I can't even get started

First off, I'm sorry if this ends up being a really stupid, simple issue. I've been trying to get NPVR started since yesterday evening. I can't seem to get NPVR to find channels? I have a Hauppauge 955Q installed. NVPR sees the device, but when I click SCAN, a DIGITAL CHANNEL SETUP box pops up, I hit OK and nothing happens.
Between trying to get NPVR, mediaportal, and kodi to work, I have about 12 hours into this and my brain is totally fried. I can watch live tv using WINTV.
I'm totally lost and confused at this point. I've tried walking through the NVPR setup info and get nowhere. I'd like to use NVPR as a backend and KODI as a front end. My last PVR was a mac mini. I plugged the eyeTV into the USB, paid $20 for the tvguide, and that was that. Is it really that difficult to set this up on a windows machine?
If anyone is close to 48430 I'll pay you to help. My brain is toast.

What OS are you running on?
What is your signal source, Over the air (OTA), cable box, QAM...?
It would be helpful to do a channel scan and include all log files (including NRecord.log)

is that really what a 955Q looks like in the log? I suppose it must be, but I sure didn't expect to see "DVBT Tuner"

As JavaWiz points out, you have to post your log after doing a channel scan, and you have to say what your signal source is.

Java and johnson, remember in the very first line of my post I pre-apologized for a stupid, simple question? Well, this was one of those. When I selected the device and clicked Scan, another box popped up and did nothing. Well, I didn't wait long enough. It took a loooong time to scan my OTA signals, like 40 minutes. I didn't realize it was scanning because there is no progress bar, and the OK button is not grayed out like I expected.

mine cycles through the channels it's scanning, and shows the channels as it finds them... did yours not do this?

Mine found the channels, and I was able to update the EPG, but live TV is blank. I have no idea and no clue why it won't work or what to do. All I want to do is watch local OTA broadcasts with my USB tuner (which worked perfectly well in Windows Media Center).

did you visit the Settings->Decoders page and set mpeg & ac3 decoders? better yet did you read the tech support sticky at the top of the support forum and also linked in my signature, especially the section on "Video and Audio Decoders"?

Yes, I did. I'm now getting sound, but still no picture. Part of the problem is I'm not a TV engineer and don't know all these settings I have to configure to make it work. The wiki and forums are not particularly helpful so far.

My MPEG2 Video decoder is Disabled, with no option to select.

so what decoders do you have set for mpeg2 video and ac3 audio? also did you set the live tv buffer directory to a valid path?
