Just installed 3.5.7 a couple of days ago and was really excited about the native support for Ceton cards. I'm using my Infinitv 4 as a Clear QAM tuner with no cablecard. It appears that there is no way to manually map channels to this device and a scan yields no channels since there is no cablecard installed. Is there someway to manually add channels or can this be added in a future release?

Thanks,
Scott

On Settings > Devices under Type, is there no QAM device listed then?

The Ceton shows up as a DRI (digital receiver interface) driver and not as a QAM. It appears to rely on a channel map which is provided by the cablecard and I believe, stored on the tuner card.

It's only ever been tested in a cablecard situation. I have no idea and no easy way to check if it works cablecard-less with QAM.

In Windows Media Center I am able to create QAM channels and assign them to the card so I know it's possible.

I'm sure you're right. For the few days I had remote access to a Ceton device for development though, this wasn't something I tested. Infact, I didn't even know you could do this with a Ceton device.

How do you create those QAM channels in Media Center? I'm curious what the process is. Do you scan for them, or something else?

1) On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click TV, click Guide, and then click Add Missing Channels.
2) Click Add DTV Channel.
3) Type the name of the missing channel, and then click Next.
4) Type the number of the missing channel, and then click Next.
5) If prompted, type the physical number of the missing channel, and then click Add.
6) Click Done.

I don't have either Media Center or a Ceton device here so can't look into the details myself.

What do the number and physical number look like at #4 and #5 there? ie, is it something like channel 12, is found on 84.12

From memory, I think the steps are slightly differnt than what I cut and pasted from the MS site. It asks for the primary channel number and sub channel number then asks you for QAM64 or QAM256 on the next page. You can then assign a logical channel number to it. I would be fine entering the frequency and sub channel if it would be easier to support the card as clear QAM.

Does Ceton provide BDA devices, that is important for QAM tuning. I did a check search and it didn't look promising.
