Slow tuning using Ceton card

Been trying out MediaPortal and NextPVR and finding that MP has *much* faster channel tuning that NextPVR. Tuning the first channel on both (after startup) is a little slow but after that tuning a channel with MP is like 1-2 secs max. On NPVR the time seems constant. 4-5 seconds.

I want to try and use NPVR as it has the ability to record only new shows in a series and it has SD support built in. Hwever the slow channel tuning is a drag.

Anything I can do to speed this up?

Ceton support is a fairly recent addition, and I don't have one here myself, so much of it's development was guess work. That said, the guy that did the main testing indicated he was very happy with the sub-2 seconds channel changes he was getting, so I don't think it's universally slow.

First up we'd need to determine if this is a capture or playback thing. When you're noticing this delay, are you in NextPVR, or another frontend like Kodi?

I was doing my testing in Kodi. I can do a test with the npvr UI from a different client.

Just ran a test using the NPVR client on another machine. Tuned two HD channels from the guide. Each one took approx 7 seconds to tune. Tuner is a Ceton 4 PCie. This pretty closely mathes the tuning speed on Kodi. By comparison MP tunes (after the first one) channels in < 2 seconds. Closer to 1 second.
Is there some log I can share with you that might show why it's so slow?

How long is it on the NextPVR server machine itself? ie, ignoring client PCs etc.

NOt sure I know what you mean by how long? How do I measure the time spent on the server itself to tune?

No - I mean test live tv directly on the server. Don't use a client on another machine, or kodi on another machine.

ok, I'll vnc in in a sec. I'm copying some files now to prepare for an upgrde to Win10 so when that finishes (10 min) I'll check it.

ok, just tested it. was using Remote desktop but it was still 7-8 seconds to tune a channel. Tried 4 HD channels each tuning from guide.

timeshift buffer is on system drive at c:\temp
recordings are going to a completely different drive
