I click on pause during a commercial break while watching a recording in progress.
At some point, NextPVR restart on it's own while the EDL file is changed

I also noticed that when you go back before a commercial break while watching a recording in progress, it is almost impossible for NextPVR to skip to the end when the EDL file change, even when using "999", so you have to click before, click again again and at some point it stop skipping.

I have noticed this myself in the last few days. I hit pause, walk away, and play resumes in ~5-30 seconds without any interaction on my part. I never had the experience before.

This must be a side-effect of the new-ish feature that re-reads the .edl file continuously during playback. What must be happening is that you pause during a commercial break that wasn't yet marked, and then the .edl file is updated by comskip to include that break so npvr immediately skips out of the break and resumes playing. I've had only positive results from that feature, but I don't guess I've ever paused during an unmarked commercial break... I can see where it'd be annoying if that happens to be what you do.

I guess the fix you need is for it to stay paused even if the newly read .edl data dictates a jump from the point you're currently at. Or a way to turn off the feature altogether... I don't think there's a setting for it, no one thought there'd be any downside to it.

This part I'm not following...

I am using the mouse to go back just before the break start point, it not unusual for compskip to be inaccurate about where the show ends and the commercial start. Doing that will play for a few seconds then skip to the end of the break (Same as CTL-P). Before 3.6.6., going back the start of a commercial break would start playing the show without skipping until you hit CTL-P .

Typing 999 is supposed to prevent skipping, but it does not register all the time.

Another behaviour on the same theme, this time with a previously recorded show, Going back in the break when it skipped a few seconds of the beginning of the show segment, skip to the end of the break after 5-10 seconds, you have to fight with NextPVR to be able to see part of the show.

On the subject of re-reading the EDL file, why does it read every 20 seconds for a previously recorded program ?

It probably safe to assume the EDL file with not change once the recording is done.

While it seems redundant to re-read a completed .edl file over and over again, how does NPVR know that it's complete? It doesn't really distinguish between playing an in-progress recording vs. a completed recording, and even if it did how does it know comskip isn't still running on the file? Many users run comskip in postprocessing.bat, so even a completed recording may have an .edl file showing up suddenly during playback.

It's only supposed to load the file if the file length is different from last time it loaded it.

well Handy.Man's log sure seems to show it re-reading the exact same skip points every 20 seconds ad nauseum. That doesn't happen here though.
