unable to communicate with recording service

I'm new to NextPVR so I might just be missing something simple. I've got version 3.6.6 installed. I'm using OTA reception only (no cable or sat) My channels were discovered by NextPVR and I can even load in the channel schedule . The problem is that hen I try and watch live TV, I get an "unable to communicate with recording service" message.
I've attached the log files if that helps.

the recording service wasn't running; it hasn't run since the 19th when you installed 3.6.6.

in the start menu there's a "Start NPVR Service" icon; if you click that do you get any response? does a new nrecord.log get created with a current date?

So far so good... thanks for the help. I just had to install some codex and it worked.

I doing know how codecs would relate to a recording service problem, but glad you have it working.

This here solved my problem. It took me so long to get this program set up. First it was the guide not working till I figured out I had to change every channel individually to xml and tell it the channel name. I didn't see that step anywhere. Thanks Windows10.
I think I finally got it working now. I'll test recording something and probly something else will break.

I am having same problem and nothing is working. Have two machines, Win10 and Vista. Would love to get HDHR working with NPVR. It works with WMC and MP2. It works with HRView somewhat, although can be jumpy and skippy at times. I get the error message in the heading of this post. I am ready to attach my log if I knew where the button was.

I suggest that you start a new thread for your problem. You can zip log files at Settings --> About and clicking the big button labelled "Zip my log files for me ...". You attach the zip file to a post by clicking the "Go Advanced" button that is below right as you type your post and then clicking the paperclip button.
