The Nextpvr web server is refusing to stream to clients.
I can log on to the server via a web browser and see the EPG, but cannot stream a channel.
Also, I tried a newly setup Kodi box and its NextPVR client gets directory/schedule listings ok but will
not stream either.

Some local tests on the the Nextpvr server machine with VLC yield this:

http://44.72.17.7:8866/live?channel=6 fails with error in VLC:

http error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
http error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
access_mms error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
core error: open of `http://44.72.17.7:8866/live?channel=6' failed

However, http://localhost:8866/live?channel=6 works.

Looks like a firewall rule issue, but my rules look ok for the Nextpvr entries, and I also tried it with the firewall disabled to no luck.
Server is running on Windows 7.

Scratching my head.
Any ideas?

Are you trying to do this across the internet? ie 44.72.17.7 is external address. If you were doing it on local area network, I'd expect to see normal LAN addresses like 192.168.x.x, or 10.x.x.x etc. By default NextPVR only allows requests from the local network.

44.72.17.x is my local subnet at home. NOT currently internet connected. It used to be rout-able via ham radio in the old days,
so I've used the addresses locally still out of habit, rather than 192.168.x.x. I'm behind a NAT firewall from the real inet.

Any way in the configs I can tell nextpvr to regard 44.x.x.x. as local without having to re-config my whole network, or
do you have it hard-coded? I can do it, but it will be a big job ;-).

I'm not sure if you'll be able to get everything working with this non-standard network setup.

You could try setting <AllowRemoteStreaming> and <AllowRemoteAPI> to true in config.xml.

Thanks Sub, I'll give that a try.

If I end up having to change my IP's, is the private 10.x.x.x subnet acceptable to Nextpvr?
I can't use 192.168.x.x at home due to some network VPN hardware I use for work.

Yes, and other standard private subnets, like 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x
