Just as the title states. I have a season recording set up for "Last Man Standing" TV show. The metadata that the scraper brought back was for "Last Man Standing" movie. Obviously the art and synopses do not match what the TV show is about. Can the scrapers be smart enough to know only look for a tv show or movie based on the EPG information? Maybe it is already trying to do this and it was a fluke issue Smile

Are you using Schedules Direct for your EPG?

Schedules Direct should always get you the correct artwork, since they provide the artwork directly for each show.

When it comes to mc2xml, it'll have to do a name search on the fanart provider, which is usually good, but they occassionally return the wrong information.

If you want to supply your npvr.db3 file, I can try taking a look at what artwork it's downloading for "Last Man Standing", to see if I can improve the process for the types of data you have from mc2xml.

Thanks Sub, I private messaged the db3 file you requested. Note that "Second Chance" tv show also pulled in incorrect art last night Smile

Thanks for the db3 file.

I've taken a good look at the couple of shows you mentioned, but unfortunately I'm not sure if there is much I can do. Your EPG doesn't have any identifiers to help narrow down the exact artwork, so it has to do a name search, and unfortunatley both of these shows have the same name as other shows that exist, which have a higher ranking and are returned earlier.

Your EPG doesn't even have a genre like 'Movie' to help narrow down if it's a movie or a tv show. I've done some minor tweaks for the next release to make some assumptions about whether it's a movie based on it's duration. This will help in some scenarios, and make it less likely you're gonna get movie artwork for a tv show, but this change isn't going to fix either of the shows you mention.

mc2xml used to have good show identifers, but these went away in July 2015 when Microsoft changed their data provider. Schedules Direct still has these show identifiers.

I think I'm gonna need to provide a mechanism for you to manually fix the artwork. ie, search the artwork, and manually select from the list.

sub,

How about taking into account the frequency in which I am asking the show to be recorded. If I ask to record a season it is a very good indicator that I am recording a TV show, whereas a one time recording + long length is a good pointer for movie. Just a thought Smile Thanks for taking the time to look. I'm going to look at the EPG data a little closer and see if there is something more to it!

EDIT:
Another line I am seeing repeated for Movies in my EPG data is the following.
Whether or not that is included with each movie is still unknown. I have also noticed "Episode On screen" <episode-num system="onscreen"> to be a good indicator for TV series vs movies.

I'll send you a link via PM to my xml file as well, in case you wish to pursue it further.
