I have used Birtles XMLTV grabber and Radio Times data since God was a boy ... but, sadly, the data source has now gone.

I have evolved my own ungainly EPG process that requires an XMLTV file as a starting point. What is the best / easiest way to get an XMLTV file from Schedules Direct?

Thank you for listening.

Edit: XMLTVGUI says that it works but I get a broken layout in Settings and I suspect that XMLTVGUI is not compatible with the current SD.

mc2xml will produce an xml file from Schedules Direct. It seems to work fine for my occasional limited use - getting guide date into SimpleIPTV in Kodi.

Edit: Scratch this, it's a US focused guide...

I'm about to swap over to SD now and found this guide from the NPVR wiki.

Be aware that the SD UK listings use the newer json (whataver that is) interface for their listings.
The xmltv gang have an option for SD to xmltv. I think they are mythtyv oriented but a windows executable is normally available.

Just done this now, easy process. Sign up at schedulesdirect.org get your username and password, free 7 day trial and $25 for the year (thanks to Brexiters this costs more in GBP now, sigh). Then, for UK, pretty much follow the video I linked above. NPVR has built-in support for schedules direct, there are channel lineups for freeview and freesat, mapping doesn't work very well, you'll need to manually map most channels but it ain't no biggie.

Thanks to all.

I seem to be getting exactly what I want using Schedules Direct and mc2xml.

XMLTV doesn't have full support for all the fields which are available in the native JSON format, so you may want to re-consider using a lossy conversion if NextPVR has native support.

Your timing is impeccable ... I seem to be missing (more or less) an entire channel ... Channel 5 is in the XMLTV as "I5.17157.schedulesdirect.org" and "I105.50717.schedulesdirect.org". Am I missing something? Thanks.

I just had a look at mine and I have a populated EPG for channel 5, but the mapping shows it as 105 - BBCR5L which to me means radio 5 live. but this produces a CH5 listing.
There is a mapping available of 105 - CH5 but this produces no EPG listing for it says something like pending.

Does C5HD have a listing?
