I've mentioned this elsewhere, but think this deserves its own thread. I've seen others with this problem.

If I'm watching a show currently being recorded, I can't exit out of it using my 45-button Hauppauge remote. "Escape" on the keyboard appears to work, although the other night even THAT froze GB-PVR.

I can't get GB-PVR to directly access the remote (another thread indicates this is an incompatibility between Hauppauge's drivers and GB-PVR), so that's not an option.

Any hints on what I should be looking for to solve this problem?

I'm considering
-installing an older version of the IRRemote software
-Setting up macros with AutoHotKey or
-using a wireless keyboard
GB-PVR (usually newest version) (Love it! Direct access to 45-button Hauppauge remote not working)

Ditto, ditto, ditto. This is my one--and only--GB glitch (plugins aside).

I have tried about everything I can think of. Different codecs, filters, installs, vid cards, a/v quality settings, hot, cold, etc, etc. It happens less if you use stop and not esc, but still happens. It happens w/ the keyboard, either way. It even happens when exiting any video once in a while, but w/ no where near frequency of timeshift.

All this means I have no ideas how to help, but would equally love any suggestions. For any ideas ppl may have, I can at least offer whether I have tried it already or not.

One thing I can offer is it started after the version that fixed a similar problem. Sometimes when I would exit, it would be unable to delete the TS file I was watching. Version 09105 or 09107 that fixed that problem, but created this one. I get a feeling (maybe just coincidentially) that they are the same, just w/ the behavior changed thx to the fix (I should say, I prefer this intermittent problem to the no-delete files one).

In case it helps find a common denominator, here is my HW:
AMD Sempron 1.75GHZ / DDRAM 2x256M, 1x512M DDR333 PC-2700 Kingmax
MB Biostar AMD M-ATX M7NCG400 nForce2 IGP
WinTV-PVR 150 | nVidia eGeForce-FX 5500, 128MB
80GB SEAGATE ST380011A 7200 / Barracuda 200GB 7200RPM ATA/100 HD

Next time it happens, I'll grab info from logs.

Again, I want to say that I am impressed that this is my *only* problem w/ the program. That, in of itself, is really impressive, and why it nags me but doesn't take away from GB at all.

Just changed around the channels to invoke it. Not going to post a ton of log, but in looking at other stop/starts, nothing jumps out.

What I did see was it seems native log seems to end properly w/ the last step of:
11:19:13.718 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase:: playFile() done

At the same time (more or less), in the gbpvr.eve log, the last entry is:
3/30/2005 11:19:13 AM.796 VERBOSE [2] Received event code: 14

and it never gets (from prv stop):
3/30/2005 11:18:52 AM.125 VERBOSE [2] StopLiveTV()
3/30/2005 11:18:52 AM.281 VERBOSE [2] at aw.j()

Same in recording service log. Last step is:
3/30/2005 11:19:10 AM.687 VERBOSE [732] RecordingFactory.LoadNext24HourEvents()

But never makes it to:
3/30/2005 11:19:06 AM.015 VERBOSE [732] Received request to stop livetv: 1

One thing I wonder is if it's getting hung on not waiting for another process to finish. Since it happens w/ files, TS and sometimes video(like a divx file), it could be writing the stop/resume info, not finishing, and not letting the next step happen and hanging.

That's wild speculation, but I just get an impression there's a non-logged process like writing to the log, an xml page, or the db that issue, and not the video file itself.

Btw, to Sub: None of this is a gripe or a criticism. I'm genuinely interested in troubleshooting/fixing if you find the time, interest, and need to look into this. I know you're kept more than busy w/ every other issue & working on the next revision as it is.

It is nice to know I'm not alone!Wink And I, too, LOVE this program! I tried the BeyondTV demo and it was a dog.

One important note is that, on my system anyway, CPU usage is pegged at 100%. To me this seems to indicate it isn't simply waiting for something that isn't happening.

Also, I'm not sure if it affects the recording service. I'll have to check that out. I think it does. That might provide an important clue to the problem.

Also, my recording directories are on a different logical drive than GB-PVR and system files.

What it's doing (for me at least) is not *ending* the TS, which mean the recording that is going on is never stopped. But, it's using up a lot more resources to do so.

I've tried putting Live on different/same drives, but no good.

It looks like we have the processor and 150 in common, but not much else.

I don't have much experience yet, still "perfecting" my system, but I didn't understand what the problem was?

I use the 45 button remote. And ir32.exe (from 350)
Mapped default to
BACK={findwnd(,GB-PVR)}{SendMsg(32771,223,0)}

and GBPVR section
BACK={esc}

and have no problems coming out of programs, menus, recordings or timeshift.
Only so far seen crashes on rapid channel flicking on a DVB300i (pinnacle) or while running pinnacle mediacenter to monitor the screen.

If you're not getting the freeze using back/stop from timeshift TV, that's good. I can get a crash from rapid channel flipping in TS, so I just don't do it (don't see a need when you know what's on).

You may not find this thread to be as helpful for the flipping issue.

I've just spent the last couple of hours looking at this and have just found and corrected the source of the problem.
