Hi,

I am looking for some advice.

I am changing my dual DVB-S2 card to a quad version. (The device identifiers will change). Is there any simple way of doing this, avoiding the need to re-scan and re-order all of my existing channels which originally took quite some time. Will I have to re-create my existing series recordings? I am hoping I can do something with the channel export/import options.

Thanks,

Steve

My recollection of the steps that I have followed in the past is that you should ... 1) Export Channels at Settings --> Devices 2) Add the new card 3) Import Channels to each of the tuners on the new card 4) Remove the old card

The trick is to ensure that the channels keep the same "id" within the database because a recurring recording record in the database contains the channel id (and the procedure that I describe should do that).

An easier solution to try first is to click on the new device and select setup. If the new tuner covers the same frequencies as the old there will be a popup offering to copy the channels from one of the existing setups. You repeat this with each new tuner.

in a similar vein to jcjefferies' post, what you want to do is pretend you're adding a new tuner rather than changing. leave the existing tuner setup as-is, even if you physically remove it. usually the prompt to copy the channels from an existing device will work, but even if for some reason it didn't you'd then do a scan on the new tuner and then merge the channels to the old tuner. the key is to make sure the new channels get merged to the existing channels, so that the internal channel_oid's don't change.

after all that you can do an EPG update so your scheduled recordings will be re-set for the new tuner(s).

Make sure you make a copy of npvr.db3 so that if anything goes pear shaped you can get back to square one.

I've used Chris's method in the past and it worked fine. (add new card and setup before removing old one).

Adding new card and copying channels before removing old one worked perfectly. Thanks to all who replied.
