I read some threads that said that this card is not supported and some that said it would not be. then I read that it was stuck in the last update at the last minute. I tried it. LOVE the program. Was able to select the card in the setup and it seems to be working exept theres no sound  was wondering if another update is on the way? Does anyone have a fix?

The sample device supplied to me by ATI has a problems (possibly PAL I tuner not PAL B/G, or possibly drivers that dont like PAL B/G or Nicam Stereo), so I get no sound in any application including PowerCinema, AMCap or GB-PVR. Until ATI correct my problem I cant test any audio features and GB-PVR will stay broken with this card.

Thank you for your quick responce, I have tried other programs with varying results but GBPVR is the only one that gave me no sound. So maybe it is the card they sent you or PAL problems. Snapstream trial works OK but setup is cluncky, SageTV trial will not change channels in less than 5 minites, not to mention that these cost allot of money. Cyberlink (that came with) works OK but no channel guide and no multi tuner support. (I have two of these) mediaportal works OK but I don't like XMLTV and the .dvr-ms file format insted of the .mpeg I want (for editing). Yours is the only one that has all the right features if we could only get sound. If there is anything I can do to help (short of sending you my card) let me know. and thanks again.

We're pretty much dependent on ATI rectifying the problem. Once I have sound working with other applications like PowerCinema, then I'll be able to get it going in GB-PVR also.

I know that you said that cybermedia doesn't work but have you tryed any others many of them like snapstream worked during the 21 day free trial I just did not like the interface, and I also found out that if you have 2 Saaphire cards (same as ATI TV wonder elite) the first card records with sound and then when you record with the second card you get picture but no sound. Don't know if this may be a clue for you but I thought I would throw it in. Got the same responce from Sagetv when I could get the channels to change without rebooting. media portal works with one card (not tried with two) but can't edit .dvr-ms without sound going out of sinc. Still holding out hope for you to find answer. Smile

Neither Media Portal or BeyondTV produce any sound for me on my 550 Pro. I'm sure ATI have either sent me a lemon or its in some way (drivers, hardware) not compatible with our PAL B/G sound system. Unfortunate really, because I'm sure many users would take the heat of ATI's crap software if there were decent free alternatives like GB-PVR.

I finally just gave up on the ATI cards for now, and ordered a Hauppauge 150mce. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. Then I will have to decide how long to wait for ATI to make a good driver (patience is not one of my long suits) before I just sell off the two Sapphire cards on eBay or something like that so I can buy another Hauppauge. I hope that I will not be able to tell the difference in the picture quality, but I hope I can hear a lot of difference in the sound quality (and volume) Cool

Hi,

Long story short,

I purchased a Sapphire theatrix from newegg for use in australia. Well despite haveing NTSC/PAL written all over it at newegg and sapphire I get it only to find it has NTSC style connectors! Then I get on the net and find that in fact it doesn't appear to have pal support???

A couple of questions for SUB, you obviosly have a "PAL" card that came with pal connectors? If not are there adapters available.

Also I planed (now my plan looks not so good) to use the card in MCE 2005 have I got any hope or should I just send this thing back right now and save myself some grief?

Thanks in advance

James.

It isnt really a matter of connectors, but rather the tuner on the device. The device is either shipping an NTSC tuner in US or (I think) a multistandard PAL tuner for the rest of the world. Unfortunately this isn't something the user can change, so its probably not the device you wanted.

You most likely can record PAL from the composite/svideo input, but just not from the tuner.

I checked out the tuner on the net and it says that it supports NTSC PAL and SECAM.

But as the connectors on the back of my card are the "F type" screw in connectors not standard PAL push in connectors I am a bit concerned that my card does not support pal despite all the addvertising saying the opposite!

James.
