Hi NVPR Support
I have been trying to record the overnight events from the Olympics on Freesat UK.
I have selected Freesat(UK) for the channels and can get the EPG data by emptying the EPG and then Update EPG, no problem.
But when the EPG update runs at 7 am every morning the Freesat(UK) EPG information just disappears and I have to manually empty the EPG and the update again to get it back every day.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Maybe it could be fixed with a new "UpdateEPG.bat" file which empties the EPG first before updating, although I don't have the knowledge to do this.
My Current "UpdateEPG.bat" file looks like this.

G:
cd "G:\XMLTV GUI"
XmltvConsole

Hope you can help
Many thanks
Bob

I don't understand why you get different results when you run an EPG update manually by clicking the button and when it runs automatically at 7 in the morning.

But ... you need to delete the updateepg.bat because the xmltvgui service stopped working more than a month ago.

You should be able to get EPG data from the broadcast stream for all Freesat channels. It might be worth checking that you have the EPG Source set to Freesat for all Freesat channels.

If you are still getting different results for a manual and for an automatic update ... do a manual update and then zip the logs. Then do an automatic update and zip the logs. Attach both sets of logs to another post. Thanks.

Hi Graham
I am using xmltv.gui for the EPG from DigiGuide Freeview which seems to be still working OK..
Or am I missing something here.

My mistake ... I had forgotten that xmltvgui works with Digiguide and other sources.

You'd probably need to do an EPG update, then post the logs so we can take a look.

Hi Graham
Managed to do what you suggested this morning.
After 7 AM when the EPG had automatically updated I saved the NVPR.log as First NVPR.log and zipped it.
Then I looked at the TV Guide and there were no listing for the FreeSat (UK) channels even though Yesterday I had emptied the EPG and Manually updated it and all the listing were showing in the TV Guide.
I the Emptied the EPG and Manually updated the EPG once again, then saved the NVPR.log as Second NVPR.log and zipped it up for you.
When I again looked at the TV Guide all the FreeSat (UK) channels had listings again.
Really strange!!
Hope you can help me sort it...
Regards
Bob

The log of activity for an automatic EPG update is not in npvr.log. Please zip and attach the complete logs folder ... In Settings --> About, there is a button that will zip the folder. Thanks.

Hi Graham
Sorry about that....
I did what you suggested and clicked "create a zip file and show me where it is" and nothing happened... Don't know why.
So manually zipped the whole log folder from C:\Users\Public\NVPR\Logs.
Hope this is OK
Please find attached

Hi Graham
To add to my previous reply.
The zip log file routine did not appear to work because I had File Explorer open and NVPR was at full screen so File Explorer stayed in background.
When I went back and looked in the Logs folder there are 5 log.zip files I just created, sorry about that, I feel a bit dumb now.
Anyway I have attached the first one I created with the program routine to this reply post.
Thanks

In the nrecord.log.1 we have

Quote:2016-08-14 06:45:00.197 [DEBUG][10] About to start recording (16809 on 20): H:\Recorded TV\Motorsport\Motorsport_20160814_07000725.ts...

and later we have

Quote:2016-08-14 07:05:53.349 [DEBUG][11] Checking if multi-record possible...
2016-08-14 07:05:53.359 [DEBUG][11] EPG scan skipped for locator. Device is in-use.

It may be that the Freesat EPG scan did not work because the tuner was in the middle of recording.

Try setting the time of the auto EPG scan to a time when there is never gonna be a recording in progress.
