Hello,

I am trying to set up NPVR to go with my HVR 2250 that is installed in a Windows 10 VM under Unraid.

My tuner is recognized by the system and I am able to scan the channels but the only thing I see is a black screen when I select live TV.

I also tried to record something and NPVR is not creating any files in the designated directory.

I downloaded WinTV signal strength tester and I can confirm that I have good signal strength.

Not too sure what to try next....

Attached are my logs

It looks like you've set your live tv buffer directory to a place under your user account (C:\Users\WinTv\Desktop\test\), which the recording service (which runs as a different user account) wont be able to access.

Try creating a directory like c:\temp and use that. Alternatively point it to a directory that both user accounts can access, like C:\Users\Public\Videos

I had it initially pointing to a shared mapped network folder and this did not work either. Would the recording service be able to access that?

I'll give your suggestion a try and see if this works.

Thanks!

Mapped drives are only visible under the account that mapped them, so no - that wouldn't have worked either.

I placed the live and records folder to C:/record and tried again. Unfortunately, I am still experiencing a black screen. Not sure what I could try next....

I am looking into the logs and one part seems like the stream is empty(?):

Does your file get created now? That's the first step in the process. Eitherway, post the logs again.

That snippet of log in your edited post shows you still have the live tv buffer directory pointing to a directory that only your account with have access to:

You are one master panda! While the screen remained black, the files do get recorded and I can watch them fine on another computer.

Here are my new logs.

Note:

It says I don't have directX and NPVR will use software rendering, could this be the issue? This is on a VM using VNC.

Yeah, this is from my old logs. I had not bothered to download the new ones when I saw that the screen was still black. The new ones are posted above.

DirectX is only used for some subtle animations between screens in the UI, it wont effect playback of video. VMR in a VM over VNC may be a factor in missing video (some remote desktop apps just show a black rectange where video should be with some renderers). The LAV decoder also doesn't play well with NextPVR and could be a factor.
