I installed Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3176938) today.

After reboot, even though the Tray icon for Ntray was there, "show Status" was blank, nothing running and no devices there.

I clicked the "Restart Recording Service" and everything went to normal. All my tuners showed up in the "Show Status"

I intentionally rebooted and the same thing happened. Ntray loaded but the recording service failed to start until I manually restarted it.

Attached is my logs.

Any idea? Also, this is a fresh install (last week) of NPVR with Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD model 01609. Everything was working fine until this newest Update from Microsoft today. This takes me to Windows 10 Pro, version 1607, build 14393.105 on an AMD. My Intel got the same update with no issues with NPVR with a USB WinTV-HVR-950Q

To sum up the issue, after the Windows 10 update, at reboot, I must manually restart the NPVR recording service each time.

If you haven't broken it at least once, you're not doing it right.

Did it try to start it and fail, or never tried? ie, might need to look if a new nrecord.log is created after the reboot time and check for errors, or see if there is any message in WIndows Event Viewer about failing to strat the service.

In the Windows Event Viewer first I got an error 7009, A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the NPVR Recording Service service to connect. and then I got error 7000, The NPVR Recording Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

After manual restart of the recording service, I got an event 0, Service started successfully.

Attached is the NPVR.log at reboot, no nrecord.log created. I also attached the nrecord.log that was created after the reboot and some screen shots.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what to suggest on that one. The fact that a nrecord.log isn't created makes it sound like it hasn't actually been started at all, since it's one of the first things it does. Is your machine pretty bogged down when booting?

Does it help if you go into the Services control panel, then view the properties of the NPVR Recording Service, and change the Startup Type to 'Automatic (delayed startup)'?

I'll try that first. Delayed... ignore the other post until after reboot

sub, Delayed startup worked.

Services control panel > NPVR Recording Service > Startup Type to 'Automatic (delayed startup)' fixed the issue.

Since you don't have DRI devices does it help if you disable the DRI support in config.xml? That 2 minute delay is a pain

Martin, I disabled DRI support in the config, reset the recording service to Automatic and rebooted. It still didn't start and Windows wrote event "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the NPVR Recording Service service to connect."

I am going to run my Windows Logs through the debugger and see what I find. Maybe something else is happening that is not related to the NPVR recording process but it's a victim of the other. I did notice a Google Chrome process (I think it is Hangouts) is taking a long time to load and Windows is sending out a warning event on that.

That's not going to make any difference to starting the service. It's just a delay when you go to the Settings->Devices screen while it looks for DRI devices (like the Ceton tuner).
