First, I want to apologize that I don't have log files. This is an issue for my sister I am trying to hunt down and forgot to pull the logs before I made my 200 mile drive home. Will get them later if needed.

I won't bore you with the background, but due to recent digital cable changes, Time Warner Milwaukee, we were reinstalling NPVR 3.7.7 (latest version as of today), and found that neither tuner would pick up all the ClearQAM channels (local broadcast, not a copy protection issue). I believe the issue is that they have also switched the Clear QAM to be Switched Digital channels. Luckily I had a backup of previous tuning and just copied all my NPVR folder over and confirmed the channels can be viewed in live tv of NPVR with that last tuning, except two that appear to have switch frequencies as well.

I read in another post about Cton IninTV handling this type of tuning specifically for switched channels. Does anyone know if there is a way to get switched digital channels to automatically tune for the Hauppage 2250 and Avermedia MythDuet A188C without having to rent a digital converter box or whatever they would recommend. I have posted questions to the manufacturers as well, but might get a faster response here.

If not, is there a way to manually add the channels, assuming I can determine their actual frequencies?

No there isn't. You really need a device like the HDHR Prime and a tuning adapter to do switched digital video.

If you manually exported your channels from a QAM device, you can see the format that's used for these channels, and edit the file to list the files you want to import, then import the channels. Really though, I suspect it'd be too much of a moving target though.

Just a thought here... Did you also install all of the patches? I think that there are a couple of them dealing with QAM scanning and that at least one wasn't added into the latest installer.

Thank you everyone, but it turns out they were in the process of encrypting even the local broadcast channels and that is what happened, so no more QAM. Had to switch all recordings over to the HD Prime that we had for copy protected cable channels and recording via Media Center. Now I need to get another cable card tuner. Wish HD prime had more tuners or that infinTV was still in business so we can have 6 tuners on one cable card just for local over the air free channels. It is criminal what the cable companies are doing!!

You got that right and its only going to get worse. My cable company no longer offers any deals though I'm told long time customers might get a break. With cord cutters giving them a hit, they are raising prices on internet bandwidth by charging more for all those who get by with Hulul, Netflix, etc.

Unless they have true, equal service competition or regulation(s), they are going to do whatever they can to minimize costs and maximize profits. That's American capitalism for you. :-(
