Comskip and Kodi

Is there a way to have Comskip functionality in Kodi playback from the "TV>Recordings" PVR area? For me, no skipping occurs, but I have mapped the network directory containing my recordings to the Kodi file manager and categorized them as "TV Shows" - and playback from there does in fact skip over areas identified by Comskip as the NPVR playback does. It is a pretty good work-around but leads to confusing menu navigation for the wife and family, with guide and live viewing under TV menu but skippable recordings up a level

Unfortunately Kodi doesn't do comskip when playing over http, which is what happens when you play recordings in Kodi using the NextPVR addon.
