Ok so now that I am up and running again (thx sub)...

I do have a few questions. I have never really had NextPVR setup in the bedroom on a NUC for 3 months but wife refused to use it. I have to have EVERYTHING setup PERFECTLY then document a quick chart for her. anyway... few comments from here and I agree...

1. Channel names - I know I can edit them as I did this for 1
......... Q. Is there a config file or way to import/export? if I edit all 300 channels I would like to back this up and/or move to other machines
2. Change font size - 32" 720p tv across the room and wife made comment she couldn't read the guide.
......... Q. Is there a way to change the font?
3. Using an XP Media Center Remote (works pretty well)
......... Q. Is there a way I can setup somehow to shutdown the actual machine? if I set the sleep on tv... HDHomerun channel is still tied up as NextPVR is still playing live tv.

should do for now.. thx in advance! gonna get my 2nd NUC setup for a tv in the kitchen!!!!

Settings --> Devices ... Export Channels button creates an XML file that you could edit. I have multiple tuner devices ... I scan one device, export channels and then import channels on all of the other devices so that I have the same channels on all devices.

The System plugin has Shutdown in the "hidden" menu ... Press "I" or "Info" on remote or press up arrow several times to get to menu ... http://nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Plugin.System

so that was tricky... edited every channel as I wanted them to be... then exported as you suggested.. imported into another machine and ended up with double channels.. LOL.. went in and deleted... then under channels I didn't know you needed to delete them as well so my tv guide had channels like 2088 and up.... I was like.. woah!!!!

all good...

messing with the system plugin now.. installed now need to go to remote and try.. just did and it is nice but wife likes setting sleep timer on tv as she likes the background noise. this method will shutoff now...

so I may also just setup a scheduled task to shut off the nuc at night say 2am...do a shutdown cuz the wife likes setting the sleep timer on the tv...
so the scheduled task will work

I was hoping this would work as well but no go.. oh well..this would be cool!!!!

The Custom Task should work. You could try putting the full command line in a batch file and then execute the batch file as a custom task.

You can adjust things likes fonts, positions on the screen, etc. in the skin files. If you are going to make your own adjustments, it is recommended that you make a copy of the existing skin folder (probably Default), then make your adjustments in that folder, and select the "new" skin in NextPVR. (That way your changes won't get overwritten when you install a new version.)

Also, I do recall at least one person had made a skin with larger fonts and simplified elements specifically for smaller TVs and/or further distances from the TV. I don't recall exactly what it was called or know if it would still work OK with the latest version of NextPVR, but it would be worth a search of the forum.

I checked the wiki and found http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...lueRetroVE which is probably what I was recalling. You might want to give it a try and see if it would work for you.

I wrote BlueRetroVE & it hasn't been updated for years (even though my wife still uses it with 3.5.7) so it won't have all the later tweaks in it & could cause some problems for some things on later versions of NextPVR ... JustRetro on the other hand (which also has some size enhancements but not so much so) is much more up to date & I will is still be continuing updates for it in the future.
