I am using NextPVR v3.9.2, running under Windows 7 Professional. My NextPVR system uses a SiliconDust HD Homerun PRIME 3 tuner cable device and a Silicondust HDHomeRun Connect 2 tuner OTA device. My cable provider is Comcast.

The national network Heroes & Icons (http://www.heroesandiconstv.com) decided to change their schedule, effective March 31, 2017. I can only receive the H&I network OTA, on channel 7.3. When I set up my channels in NextPVR I specified Schedules Direct as my provider and defined two lineups. One is OTA for 93618 (near Fresno) and the other is Comcast Digital. When I initially set up all my channels I set all my OTA channels to use Schedules Direct and the OTA lineup. What I didn't notice at the time was that NextPVR appeared to ignore what I wanted and assigned Comcast as the lineup for several of my OTA channels. It did this for OTA channels that were also carried by Comcast. For channels not carried by Comcast it left my original assignment of the OTA lineup alone. Comcast does not offer the sub channels 7.2 and 7.2 in my area, but apparently in other nearby areas (possibly Fresno) they DO. So the secondary channels 7.2 and 7.3 appear in the lineup as channels 190 and 191. Because they are in the lineup, NextPVR insists on using them, no matter what I do, short of actually deleting the Comcast lineup from NextPVR.

In the past this hasn't caused me any problems with my listings, except that when H&I made the change on March 31st Comcast is still using the OLD schedule.

I contacted Schedules Direct and they are looking into the problem, but apparently the OTA listing is ok, just Comcast is wrong. If I could change NextPVR to use the OTA lineup I could work around the problem until the Comcast problem is fixed, but I would like to know if this behavior by NextPVR is by design or a bug. I would think that if I set the lineup to be the OTA lineup NextPVR should not change it arbitrarily, it should accept my change, or at least warn me that it's not going to allow the change.

Thanks,

Chuck

I don't really understand your description of the problem, but you can set the Schedules Direct source for any channel individually. So as long as you have this channel in one of your Schedules Direct lineups, you should be able to go into it's setting (Setting->Channels screen in NextPVR and double click the channel), and select the Schedules Direct lineup and channel you want to use.

Ok, my original post was a little on the rambling side, so let me cut to the chase.

NextPVR, settings. Then channels, then right click on channel 7.3, click details. My EPG source is Schedules Direct. I have 2 lineups available, USA-OTA-93618 and Comcast-Digital (USA-CA04818-X) because I have two Silicon Dust tuners, one being a 2 tuner OTA and the other being a 3 tuner cable.

For channel 7.3 I select USA-OTA-93618 and then mapping 7.3-KAILDT3, then click OK. If I then go back and check the channel again I find that NextPVR did not save my settings, it changed them to Comcast-Digital (USA-CA048180-X) with a mapping of 190-KAILDT3. I don't want that, I want the one for USA-OTA-93618 but NextPVR will not save those settings. It always reverts to using the Comcast settings, which I do not want to use. The ONLY way I get it to use the USA-OTA-93618 settings is to DELETE the Comcast Lineup and just have the OTA lineup available. It will then accept the settings. Of course, this is not satisfactory because I have a bunch of cable channels which require the Comcast lineup.

Why doesn't NextPVR allow me to specify the OTA lineup for an OTA channel? Because the lineups have similar mappings (the identification KAILDT3)?

Thanks,

Chuck

I just tried to reproduce what you're describing, and setup my Schedules Direct account to have USA-CA04818-X and USA-OTA-93618, and switched one of my channels to use 7.3-KAILDT3 (from USA-OTA-93618), and it seems to have worked fine. It's pullled in listings for a channel with shows like Star Trek, Hunter, Xena etc.

Did you choose the right lineup from the dropdown?

Maybe supply your npvr.db3 file, and I'll see if I can reproduce it using your channel database.

After you made the change and clicked ok, did you go back and check to make sure that what you selected was actually saved? I have no problems selecting the OTA settings, but once I click OK and then go back and look it reverts to the Comcast lineup.

I'd be glad to attach my npvr.db3 file, but the forum software says it is too large. Zipped it is 10.7mb, forum software says the limit is 25MB, so I don't know why it won't upload.

Thanks,

Yes, it has correctly saved it, and shows the same selection when I go back in. (it would have needed to save it for me to be able to successfully pull in the listings for this channel)

Just put it somewhere like dropbox / onedrive / googledrive, and let know the download link.

Thanks - I can see the issue with your database. I'm still checking why it happens.

It's because both your line-ups contain this same channel (Schedules Direct "stationID":"77607"). When NextPVR is trying to show your show your mappings for this channel, it's looking for the for the Schedules Direct station with the same ID, and it just happens to be finding the Comcast one first. This is only cosmetic though - it'll still give you listings. It doesn't matter whether that screen is showing it from the Comcast, even if you're getting it from OTA - they're the exact same channel, with the same listings.

I'm sure this would have been the case for lots of users in the past, but because they get the correctly listings, no one has pointed it out (or maybe no one has noticed).

I'll try to resolve this for the next release.
