Live TV freezing

Hey all, I have been using NextPVR for about a year now and love it.. but I have a new issue that has popped up recently. I will be watching live tv and within 30 seconds to 5 minutes it will just freeze. If I am within NextPVR watching TV I can right click and stop and it will go back to the menu, but in kodi it generally means I need to end task to kill kodi. This happens in NextPVR and in Kodi, so I don't think its a Kodi issue. I can watch live tv with no problems using the HDHomeRun View app so I don't think its a tuner problem either.

Looking at your logs, I can see .... Oh wait. You didn't post your logs.

Recreate your problem, go into Settings and hit the button to zip your logs directory. Attach that zip to a new reply here & somebody smarter than I am will come along and help you. If you can indicate at what time you ran into the issue, it will help narrow down where to look in the logs.

I found a thread here about a ms update with a dll file causing some people issue with live tv and encoders or something. I replaced the dll with an older version that was posted in the thread, rebooted and so far tv has been working with no problems for the past 20 minutes. I will how it goes, if I run into an issue again I will post logs, thanks!

Thank you! Im going crazy because my NPVR is freezing as well! At first glance it looks like our problems are very similar. Gonna check that out in couple of minutes and let you know how did it go. Thanks

This thread is so messed up. Although the topic title covers many scenarios the problem described in the original post is not going to be fixed by a MS decoder, which Kodi doesn't even use. Something else cleared the problem The linked thread is just as bad the original post never appears to be resolved (also not MS decoder related) but the thread got hijacked.

For clarity the MS decoder problem related to immediate crashes in the comppkgsup.dll on playback of MPEG2 live TV and files only in Win10. MS has already released the fix in release .969 so no need to downgrade from it.

it was freezing in live tv in next pvr and kodi, I replaced the .dll and has not froze since. I am using win 10.

Likely a placebo effect and something unrelated was happening at the same . The symptoms and diagnosis just aren't right but glad it is working for you.

well for days this was happening EVERY time I would watch live tv, whether in kodi or npvr. I found that thread, replaced the dll, reboot (I had reboot a dozen times previously as well) and now its been perfect since.. so I dunno.. guess it fixed itself then somehow.
