On the client config.xml, I tried setting the following
<RecordingDirectoryTranslation>d:\temp~\\someserver\someshare</RecordingDirectoryTranslation>
to my remote share folder.

That worked fine, it open the file directly on the server without using the Server recording services. Great for not filling up the Server NRecord.log files.

However, when i watch a ongoing recording, the recording time doesn't update as it does when I open the recording normally without setting RecordingDirectoryTranslation.

Same thing happens when I use "Open File" from the menu.

Is this a limitation of opening an in progress recording file?

Would it be possible to bypass the RecordingDirectoryTranslation setting for an in progress recording?

That translation feature was originally designed as a quick work around for not being able to play transcoded files on client so to me it is not surprising that in-progress files don't function 100%. Probably it would be just as simple to remove the spam from NRecord server in client mode or move it to the extended debugging log level.

Good suggestion about the logs from the client Wink

It might not be caused by the translation feature. Opening a in-progress recording file with Right Click "Open File" behave the same way.
