Hey guys. I have my recording set to keep 4 of the new episodes. I'd like for it to delete the oldest and record the newest so that I always have the newest four episodes. It seems the way I have it now it only keeps four episodes and then stops recording. Can someone tell me how to get this functionality?

Thanks!

That's the way it works

There are no settings that could possibly make it do that. Whatever you're seeing happen, it's something else. If you post logs and specify a show that you think should have been recorded but did not, someone will tell you why the show didn't record.

We would need all your logs and an example of a recording that you think didn't work.

That being said, there may be an issue with the terms "oldest" and "newest". I think NextPVR deleting is based on air date which means newer recordings could get deleted in favour of keeping older reruns that are broadcast after them. If you have a rule to only record new episodes and your guide data supports the new flag properly it should work properly.

I'm sorry. I forgot to give more detail.

The program I'm trying to record is "America's Got Talent" . I had this set to 'New Episodes' only with a keep of four. Last night I changed this to keep all, but I still don't see that it is going to record the airing for tonight's broadcast. I do have four episodes that are recorded to disk, but the two episodes that aired last week were not recorded. I'm not sure what's going on.

I'm attaching the complete log directory. Thanks again.

Your EPG data has those episodes flagged as repeats. I suggest you get rid of the new only condition and just let NextPVR take care of avoiding duplicates. Actually, I suggest you use better EPG data! Schedules Direct FTW! (wait, it's 2017, we don't say FTW anymore do we?)

Martin, you're rarely wrong, but I'm 99.9% sure you are this time. I've sure never seen anything to make me think NPVR is doing that. It deletes the oldest recording first... in fact it wouldn't surprise me if it simply deletes in recording_oid order, which is a reliable proxy for recording date.

No one is a bigger fan of SD then me, and I still say users who use alternate sources like zap2xml should pay sub extra for all the extra support question. In this case I suspect that there is something wrong in how "Live" shows are not being flagged as new in XMLTV imports from zap2xml and it is not actually a duplicate.

No I don't think NextPVR was doing anything wrong either , I was clarifying new shows can get overwritten by reruns.
