Now that the UK DVB-T 700Mhz clearance has started and we are all going to have to re-tune several times over the next year or two - what is the best way to rescan (in NPVR) after mux frequency changes.

I seem to remember i have previously deleted all the channels on the muxes that were changing frequency and then re-scanning with the new tuning ini and adding only the channels required. (lot of dross on UK freeview) followed by checking recurring recordings etc.

Another option which after all these years would be to export the recordings and recurring recording, delete the db and start again.

Any simpler option?

In theory, you don't need to do anything snazzy ... just scan (using a new .ini if a good hearted fellow has made one) ... but NextPVR does not, for example, delete obsolete channels ... I still have BBC3 in my list. Plus, the recent frequency change for BBC4 did not go well for me and I finished up with two BBC4 channels (one on the old frequency and one on the new frequency).

My plan is to delete all channels and rescan from scratch. I assume that all recurring recording records will then be invalid because the channel identifiers in the database will be wrong. My hope is that I will be able to import the file recurring-backup.xml to recreate recordings after the rescan (but I am not sure how that will work since the .xml file also contains the old channel identifiers).

Thought for the day ... I should create a recurring recording (before the rescan) for a test show that will broadcast immediately after I do the delete channels and rescan so that I can see whether recurring recordings survive the process.

I'm thinking:
deleting channels on just the 2 changing muxes (for Mendip TX)

Then trying to find an appropriate series of sql queries to update the channel oid's in the database - any takers on that one?
