NextPVR Android client now available

Fire TV Box V2 in this case so the processor is MediaTek 8173C. I read something about a way to do the deinterlacing by tunneling to a software decoder. There are Stand alone players that do this (MX Player for one). I do understand that may be too much work for you, but another option might be to allow people to select an external player to use such as MX Player. Essentially the NVPR app would become a front end that build the stream link and then pass it off to another player. Not sure how feasible that is either though.

I did find some information about enabling tunneling in Exoplayer, but unfortunately it's bad timing for me to try enabling it. I'm pretty snowed under with day job stuff the next a couple of days, then get on a plane to the other side of the world, and back three weeks later.

Hey I get it, the work that pays the bills always has to come first. At least now you have lead to follow should you have the time and want to add deinterlacing to the app. Seriously, thanks for all you do.

You should be able to drive most things from a remote. What issues were you having?

Hi Sub, as per other thread looking at this for my new Sony TV but similar to a previous request for the iOS App, I use video content a bit and I'd like to see (at least) the same or similar functionality in the client as has been developed for the PCH and XNEWA on the RPI2 (via Kodi) i.e. for me (1) in this list.

1 Access to the Videos menu.
2 Not sure if the screensaver works the same?
3 Channel Icons?
4 Comskip [EDIT]

Seems (1) is already fulfilled automagically (not sure how it knows, the server?)
For (4) really missing comskip in this App. It would make it great.

Sorry, no it didn't.

I'm intending to revisit the Android client in the near future, when NextPVR v5 settles down a bit, and when I do that I'll take another look at the Amazon Appstore.

IMHO it may not be worth looking into putting this in the Amazon app store until you sort out the deinterlacing issue I mentioned previously. The NPVR app on my shield looks great but the interlacing on Amazon devices was really bad. I am afraid if you put it in the Amazon store in the current state you may end up with a lot more complaints/support requests around this issue. Of course this is just my opinion based on my experience.

I have temporarily been using TVMosaic for my DVR and watching my OTA channels since it handles the deinterlacing in their Android client on the Amazon devices. I keep checking back here to see when you get this fixed, so I can switch back.
