Emby/NextPvr crashes showing live TV since v4.2

Hi,

I have 2 machines that run an Emby server. One talks to WMC via ServerWMC - the other talks via NextPVR.
I have a variety of clients that can connect to either server. Until recently all combinations worked nicely.

Now, (I think since upgrading to NPVD 4.2), my IOS clients, ipad (IOS 9.3.5) & iphone (IOS 10.3), both crash when I try and stream live TV via Emby. The video appears for possibly a single frame, then the app disappears. Recorded TV and other video streams fine. Other clients (Chrome browser & Samsung smart TV) stream fine.

All combinations continue to work when I connect to the ServerWMC machine.

This forum is for the NextPVR iOS app, which is developed by myself. It sounds like you're asking the Emby iOS app. If so, you'd need ask about it on the Emby forums. They Emby guys would be able to look at the Emby logs for you, to tell you what's going wrong.

NextPVR always sends the same stream to Emby, regardless of what Emby client you're using. Given it's working on Chrome, and Samsung SmartTV, then it sounds like the stream is working just fine, and Emby has some bug in their iOS app.

Yep, I hear you, but we didn't write the Emby iOS app, or the NextPVR plugin in Emby. That was all written by the Emby project. Any crashes in those are things you'd need to do talk to Emby about.

I'm sure it's an Emby iOS app issue, and nothing to do with 4.2.2. You can easily check your self though. If you can open VLC on the same machine as NextPVR, and view the network stream http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=1234, and it plays fine, then the NextPVR side of things is fine. I have no doubt it is fine, because you've indicated it's working fine in Chrome or on the Samsung SmartTV. This http://127.0.0.1:8866/live?channel=1234 stream is what NextPVR sends to Emby regardless of what client app you're using, whether it's iOS or Windows or whatever.

It does actually downgrade when you do this, but it just doesn't downgrade the version number. If you want a clean install of the older NextPVR build, uninstall NextPVR, then delete the c:\users\public\npvr directory, then reinstall. I'm confident you'll find the problem is still there are a reinstall though (since the problem is actually something happening on the Emby side of things)
