Connecting problem with a particular IPTV source. (Xtream-editor, NextPVR, Kodi)

Hi, New to live tv so might not be using the correct language. :-)

So this is the situation:

I had setup live tv on Kodi using the Xtream-editor add-on and by providing the live tv provider with the "ID" he was able to enable the feed for me and I was able to use IPTV Simple Client Add-on to see the sows and load the EPG automatically. So far so good.

Than I found out that this setup would not support recording and pausing the live streams. So I naturally came upon NextPVR with its Kodi add-on.

I installed it on a Windows PC and started to config it. But when it came to connecting the live tv feed, that I had running using Xtream-editor, in the device setup window, it did not provide the same configuration steps as Xtream-editor.

So I am stuck now until I find the correct procedure to connect with this IPTV provider. I am not sure what to ask him for.


Q1. What do I need to ask the provider for to make this connection happen with his service? (technical language please, so I can forward it to him)
Q2. Any additional info steps needed to make this connection?

You setup IPTV in NextPVR ( for both Live TV and Recordings ) at NextPVR Settings --> Devices ... Click on IPTV and the click on Device Setup. The M3U that you input here should be the same as the M3U that you put in the Kodi IPTV Simple Client.

Well that is the problem, as I did not have to fill out anything, I only had to follow these steps: (http://xtream-editor.com/en/tutorials/pro_kodi)

Install Xtream Editor Plug-in:

Download the ZIP file to your computer.
In the KODI settings, enable the option "Unknown sources"
Save the file to the device where KODI is installed. I use the directory "userdata" in my video.
Install the addon. How to manually install an ZIP Addon can be found here
How to use the addon:

"PVR IPTV Simple Client" must be installed and activated
Open the Xtream Editor addon
You will see an APP code and QR-Code.
Scan the QR code or go directly to the web page. Link your Line or List ID with this code here.
In the addon click "Load and save settings"
Advanced EPG configuration

Create a file "advancedsettings.xml" in the folder "/storage/.kodi/userdata/". If already present, take the values from the example. This ensures that the EPG download limit is not exceeded.

And when It came to the QR code, I had to provide the service provider with the QR code and after they confirmed it, I had to click "Load and save settings" that was all, and everything worked.

When I contacted them this morning, they gave me a m3u link: http://xtream-editor.com/en/get/m3u/xxxx...xxxxxxxxxx which they told me to put in the source input field. But that did not work for me, and they were not familiar with NextPVR to help further. They only use the Xtream-editor as a 3rd party provider.

Maybe I need to add more information or enable different options as well?

When I contacted them this morning, they gave me a m3u link: http://xtream-editor.com/en/get/m3u/xxxx...xxxxxxxxxx which they told me to put in the source input field. But that did not work for me, and they were not familiar with NextPVR to help further. They only use the Xtream-editor as a 3rd party provider.

If you want to PM me the real m3u link they gave you, I'll check in the debugger why NextPVR doesn't like it.

Thanks again for you assistance. So, correctly understood, The url need to be in the format of ipaddres /vget?username= <username>&password =<password>&format =m3u8
In which m3u8 would probably be the unique reference to the providers source.

So I will have to ask them to provide me with the additional parameters like username, password etc, I guess?
