I just downloaded 4.2.3 to replace an old 3 series version (which worked fine) and rebooted. Now when I launch the software and click Live TV, the program immediately hangs up for 10 or 15 seconds and then crashes.

FOXCONN|R20-A1 E350 D1 R, windows 10, UnTV-HVR950 tuner.

Thanks!

Zip and attach the log and we'll take a look.

O can't see any obvious reason there. If you create a c:\temp\ directory, do you get a c:\temp\crash.mdmp when it crashes?

I'm not sure how to create a c:\temp\ directory or what a crash.mdmp is. If you can spell that out for me, I'd love to try.

Some of us old folk still use the word "directory" to mean "folder". You can use Windows File Manager to create a folder on the C: drive called "Temp". The Temp folder should not be inside any other folder.

A file called crash.mdmp might be automatically created in the Temp folder the next time that NextPVR crashes. In File Manager, right click on the file and then "Send to ... Compressed (zipped) Folder ... You can then attach the zip to a forum post.

Edit: The Temp folder might already exist and might already contain a crash.mdmp.

Thanks for the clear instructions, Graham! Someday I hope to be 1/16 as fluent and knowledgeable as you folks.

There was indeed already a temp directory with stuff in it.

[Edit] "Stuff" = the crash.mdmp as well as a VLC video, the latter of which must have made the zipped file too large to attach here (??) because when I removed that and re-zipped, it uploaded fine. Let me know if you need that VLC thing too somehow.

Why not revert? I'm on 3.9.x after upgrading to problems. Still perfect.

It's dying inside libmpeg2_ff.dll, so try changing your MPEG2 video decoder to something else.

My three options for MPEG2 Video: are "Disabled" "ffdshow Video Dedcoder" and "Microsoft DTV-DVD Vedeo Decoder" but interestingly, regardless of which option I choose, I now get the error message "Unable to find available capture device." But I see my WinTV HVR listed in Devices and Printers as working properly.

ga_meuller, I've not ruled out your idea, just gonna consider that as a last resort. Thanks!
