NPVR hangs with MP4 file

Hi all,
I have a series of MP4 files and when I try and play them NPVR hangs and I have to kill it with task manager. I am aware that NPVR only handles TS files directly so I thought the files might be corrupt - but they play fine in VLC and WMP.
Logs attached, no dump file in C:\temp.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you possibly add them as Recordings with the wrong folder? I notice that you have two versions of the file that is failing

D:\Videos\Detectorists.S03E01.mp4
D:\NPVR\Detectorists\Detectorists.S03E01.mp4

Hi Martin,
I initially imported them as recordings and when that didn't work I thought I would try going in via the Video library so copied one of the files across - but it failed there also.

You probably need to post the file on the cloud for sub to look at. Also I di notice that you have .avi files too perhaps your mp4 file is actually an wrongly named avi file

Thanks Martin.
They are definitely MP4s as, to fix things, I have run them through a converter, turned them into AVIs and manually altered the file extensions in NPVR.DB3 and everything is now fine.
I would still be interested why they didn't play as MP4s and will upload one of them to the cloud tomorrow when I have some time.

Ok although playing mp4 or avi's as recordings is not guaranteed to be supported.

NextPVR is only directly involved in the playback of .ts files. For any other file type, like .mp4, NextPVR asks Windows to choose the decoders etc. If you're unable to play .mp4 files, it'll come down to what Windows is choosing. You may find installing the LAV decoders gets it working:

His logs show NextPVR hanging even before the graph is created.

No, that has created the created, added the EVR renderer, and immediately after EVR video renderer is added it's asked Windows to do it's thing to the graph, so this is precisely what I'd expect to see in the logs if Windows can't find an appropriate set of components.

Ok thanks I thought the normal line

2019-01-26 17:00:12.287 [DEBUG][1] restoring last aspect ratio

was before the graph.

@Stanno perhaps your files play in WMC because you have 64 bit decoders installed. For NextPVR you need 32 bit decoders
