Hey all,
I've been having random recording issues as of late. At very random times, some of my recordings seem to have an error. When viewing an hour long recording through Plex, it shows up as over 20+ hours in length. Same if I were to open the video on the PC. Meanwhile, File Explorer will show the exact file as under an hour. Skipping ahead/back on the video throws the video out of whack as well.

I'm using IPTV to view which have had no connection issues and the source is flawless.

Any ideas at all?
Cheers.

How long does the recording show as in NextPVR's player?

What it is probably related to - NextPVR records whatever the broadcaster sends. Verbatim. If they've got odd things going on with the timeline in the broadcast, then it'll be exactly the same in the recording. Sometimes you can get timestamp oddities when they splice programs together, like smaller timestamp at the end of the file than the beginning etc. Some players, that look at the first and last timestamp to determine the duration, don't handle this so well.

It shows the length of recording that was suppose to occur but when playing the file inside NextPVR it still jumps around. Just strange that it's happening fairly often as of late. I'm just recording live channels to maybe I should try a different channel instead. Even though it has been happening on various channels.

Oh well, I'll fart around for now and hope for the best.

If it's proving problematic for your usage, you could look at remuxing in Postprocessing.bat, to fix up any timestamp issues.

I've never done it myself, so couldn't tell you the exact steps. I know other users have in the past, so maybe try a forum search.

The thing to remember it is can get tricky if your batch file has to keep the same filename for playback in Kodi or NextPVR. Since Plex is your primary client, I'd suggest that starting with them would be another choice.

I periodically have some recordings that end up with no time information in Kodi that also can't been fast forwarded through. I found something somewhere with a way to copy the file using ffmpeg that fixes my issue at least.

ffmpeg -i video.ts -c copy video_fixed.ts
