The TV Guide is not marking the shows in the grid that are pending recordings. The Guide shows the red bar at the top to indicate when shows will be recording. The shows are in the Pending list and they record as expected. All that is missing is the red background for each show in the TV Guide.

For completeness, TV Listings has the same symptoms.

NPVR.log.1 in the attached is the Guide being displayed but I can't see any error.

I have the same problem in the TV guide. I assume this is not common as not seen it reported before when I have looked. I have seen the problem over several versions of NPVR running on win 7 and 10. For me it is not perminent a reboot will often fix it but (if I remember correctly) not always. I have just got into the habit of checking pending recordings. Will watching to see if there is a fix it can be bit anoying at time when you want to check if you have scheduled something.

When people usually report this, it's typically shows they expect will record, but aren't being scheduled because they're a duplicate of a show they already have recorded, or already have scheduled at some other time, or have deleted in the recent past. (ie, not showing up in the TV guide, or pending screen, in which case you can do an 'update epg', post the logs and let us know the name/time of the show you expected to record, and I'll check why it's not being scheduled)

The other reason we've seen it happen is when the user has duplicate tv listings, which effectively means the TV guide is showing multiple copies of the same show in the same space in the TV guide (and often the red one is underneath the black ones). To determine if this is the case, click on the show before the recording in the TV guide, and check if one click of the right arrow key moves to the next show, and one more right arrow moves to the next show etc. If you've got duplicates, it'll take multiple key presses to move to the next show. You can also check if doing an 'empty epg' followed by 'update epg' causes it to show red in the TV guide screen.

It has been reported before - see my post #8 in this thread:
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...-correctly

The shows always record correctly and the red highlights always re-appear as soonas I quit then restart NPVR.

I have seen the same issue, but find the red highlights appear if you just click away from the grid (TV Guide), say using the Menu to go to Recordings, and then use the menu to go back to TV Guide. You don't even have to restart NPVR. Most of the time, the issue is with repeating recordings that don't initially show as red when first scheduled, but do when you switch away from the guide and then come back.

Did you try my steps above to help diagnose the cause?

I emptied and reloaded the database before my original post ... symptoms remained the same.

I have clicked about in the TV Guide and I cannot see evidence of duplicate programmes. A single left or right click always causes a move left or right in the Guide.

A database is at ... https://www.dropbox.com/s/ih5eg9736lhj1k2/npvr.zip?dl=0

I see why it doesn't show red, the event oid for the scheduled event doesn't match the oid in the guide. This could happen anytime you update the EPG only without update the recurring recordings but without your recent logs there isn't much more to go one.

Thanks for the pointer. A quick look at the log appears to show that the epg update process is stopping before it gets to the re-schedule stage. I'll fiddle about tomorrow and post logs when I get stuck.

I expect you have run in to the "Crashing during epg update problem" that appears to be plaguing UK NPVR Freeview users since sometime in March.

I tested each Mux separately yesterday and the only one that lasted a 360 second scan was the Aviva A mux - and that only updated the channels on that mux.

I also tried re-installing an old copy of DVBguide set to scan the PSB2 Mux (ITV) which exited immediately on scan.

Now installed TSCapture and await Subs return.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
