Is there a way to get NextPVR video decoders to stop using the ffmpeg format? ... It keeps maxing out my CPU.

Thank you,

NextPVR's video decoders don't using ffmpeg.

If you're using IPTV, it could be because it doesn't like the format the IPTV provider is reporting for its streams, which causes NextPVR to fall back to using ffmpeg to request the streams. There was an updated NShared.dll posted recently, which added native support for another stream type, which stopped it running ffmpeg for some IPTV services.

This attached is my current NShared.dll from version 4.2.4 of NextPVR. I'm not sure where I could find a more recent version.

EDIT: Oh ya, I'm using the iptv.rent service from iptv.shop

This looks like it could be the latest version https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post533240

It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

The link for the file NShared.dll no longer work. Is it needed for v4.2.5? If so can the link to the post be re-posted? Thanks.

New versions supercede old patches so no it is not needed and if it was available it could break things.

Thanks Martin. Got frustrated with v5 not knowing what features work and which don't. So thought I'd fall back to v4 since I'm new to this app. It wants to transcode most everything and it doesn't use GPU and only 32-bit. So background usage of 60% doing other tasks doesn't leave much. Source is 720p but wants to transcode live to devices capable of 1080p. May not work for me if I can't stop the transcoding. Waiting to see what happens when it records instead of live.

The patch is included in 4.2.5
