When trying to backup my NEXTPVR library with a simple copy command, when it hits the *.ts files I get the error message "element not found" although the other files copy without issue. I am also unable to copy using Explorer even to the same directory. It appears to read the entire file without issue and when it hits the last byte it gives the error.

This is hosted on a local NAS, using an NTFS share, which the files play perfectly and are deleted when I want them gone via the app.

I trieded stopping the NEXTPVR service in case it was locking the files without luck.

Has anyone come accross the same issue and if so how have you worked around this.

Thanks.

Did you try turning off disk compression?

Thanks mvallevand, I don't believe that I have any compression on. The copy process does work fine on other volumes of the NAS and of files of comprable size.

Intersting behavior. If I rename a *.ts file with a different extention it works and then I can copy it and I can rename it back to a *.ts file but it will not complete the copy process. It NextPVR finding the file and locking it or is this another process altogether? And a test I created a ts file on a seperate volume without any issues.

Thanks!

There is about zero I'm likely to be able to do about this. It's probably something to do with the NAS not correctly handling the ADS stream that NextPVR uses for timing info when recording to a NTFS volume. Glad you found a work around though.

Thank you. I think this might be something to do with the computer I am running this on. If I attach to the volume from another computer it works fine. I think you are right it does not appear to be related to NextPVR.

I stand corrected - it works on a MAC but not on Windows 10. I tried another Windows 10 system and it had the same results. Must be NTFS related. But interesting that on the MAC I can copy the file to the same volume or off the volume without issue.

In an older request you helped me enable the timing info file as there was an issue on the volume and FF/REV and that worked:

You could try setting this registry setting to see if it helps:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wos6432Node\NPVR\ SeparateTimingInfo=1(DWORD)

Could this be related or is this setting just an application level change?

There was two ADS streams that get saved on a .ts file. One is the timing.info, and the other is metadata.info.

Ultimately these shouldn't be a problem, and you could copy your .ts file around like any other file (if you'd copy it to a fat drive, those extra files could be lost, but that's usually not a big deal). It sounds like something might be a little non-standard about the NTFS on your NAS drive.
