Play back of recording from client PC hangs up

Play back of recording from client PC hangs up (end task via task manager needed to recover). Same problem with different recordings and from different clients. Recording play back from server is fine. Also no problem playing recording .ts file from client PCs using VLC (recordings are stored on a shared server drive). All other functionality in client seems OK - I can view recording list, etc. I've tried rebooting server and clients. This problem first appeared a couple of days ago, all was fine before. The only thing I can think of that changed was a Windows 10 update. Server and client PCs run latest version of Windows 10.

I know that I am stating the bleedin' obvious ... but I get these symptoms on my client when the server goes to sleep in mid-playback.

Just to be a bit more specific, my problem occurs before the playback begins. The hang-up happens with the "Close Play Resume Delete Archive Find All" menu remaining open after I select "Play" or "Resume". The server has not and does not go to sleep. In fact, I can go to the server and play or resume the recording just after attempting to do so at the client (while the client is still hung up).

If you have a d:\temp folder can you rename it to something else to see if things change?

Martin - not exactly sure to which directory setting you are referring, but I don't think anything is set to D:\temp. The Live TV Buffer directory is set to "C:\Users\Public\Videos" on both server and clients. Video folders, Recordings are set to "D:\Media\NPVR_Recordings" on server and the corresponding share ("\\server\d\Media\NPRV_Recordings") on the clients. Music and Picture folders (I don't use this part of the program) are both set to "C:" on both server and clients. C drives on server and clients and D drive on server all have plenty of space.

Unless another idea pops up, I'll probably try reinstalling Windows on the server.
