New HTPC recommendations?

The AMDs graphics core is vastly superior but there is little accurate info on transcode capability.. ffmpeg supports AMD's hardware accelerated transcode, but not all transcoders do.  DOes anyone have experience with the NextPVR transcoder and whether it uses ffmpeg?

When NextPVR does need to transcode (like streaming to the web app), it does use FFmpeg. It has confirmed working hardware acceleration for Intel graphics. The most recent release also include FFmpeg options for AMD hardware acceleration, but still waiting for feedback from users on this. I'm not anticipating any problems on the AMD hardware acceleration support front.

I would have gone with AMD Ryzen 5 3400G 2 months back as my main new media server but unable get one because at that time they where being price gouge to over $200 so I end get i3 9100 and was replace my AMD A10-5800K which all most done Hell Yeh I can't to bring it online soon last part get here
And from I have heard so far intel quick sync is supposedly has better support under under linux

Don't go to too much effort, but if you can check the AMD hardware acceleration option works, that'd be great.

If it helps, I received the following DIY build recommendation on another forum.  My big hang-up in the pre-built PC selection was finding something reasonably priced with 4 x 3.5" internal drive bays.  I really do like the recommended case for my installation location.

Wow, prices have gone up since January.  Same build that was recommended to me in January @ $770 is now almost $950, ~23% bump.

I do like that PCpartpicker website, it's pretty cool.  And it only shows you compatible parts, which is handy unless you are looking for something specific and don't realize it's not compatible with something else you picked.  The price trend at the bottom is very interesting, unfortunately it doesn't go back to mid-January, but the seemingly quick ups and downs in pricing are certainly interesting to note.

If you stop the service, and instead run NextPVRServer.exe, does it then work? I'm wondering if this encoder only works when running on the same session as the active desktop.
