Is it possible to configure NPVRv5 to use the Show and Episode Titles as a filename for Recordings instead of SxxExx or Airdate? Something along the lines of "PJ Masks - Case of the missing shoe.ts".

I plan to post-process my son's TV shows into MP4 format for playback via Infuse on his really old iPad Mini. Using the show and episode titles as a file name would greatly benefit the end result.

How would it be of great benefit, the episode title is already included and the S/E information helps keep them in sequential order?

Martin

I have found the S/E information for kids shows to be extremely different from that of TVDB.org, which is the metadata source for the Infuse app. Clearly, the next step is to turn off the use of S/E but that resulted in my recordings being named without a show or episode title as well.

Admittedly, I could very well be doing something wrong but I've not had enough time behind the wheel to know the difference between an end-user mistake and a feature.

Assuming you are using SD for the EPG the information is their information and it is often the real data used by cablecos and thetvdb may not be right

The trouble I have seen with Kids shows is they mix and match shows in so there can be multiple seasons, episode numbers and episode names in one show and they are often impossible to match. A perfect example right now Arthur is on and it is

Season 16, Episode 10 So Funny I Forgot to Laugh; The Best Day Ever

which is technically correct because there were two a and b episodes the day it was recorded

On TheTVDB they create two episode entries for one showing so the proper Kodi/Plex and I assume Infuse name is

SE16E18-SE16E19 So Funny I Forgot to Laugh; The Best Day Ever

If Infuse can do that from "So Funny I Forgot to Laugh; The Best Day Ever" then I can see the issue although I am not sure kids care that much that much about the metadata being wrong.

Yep. That's exactly the dilemma. SD and TVDB don't play in the same sandbox. And that's ok. As long as the recording filenames omit the season and episode numbers, yet include the show and episode names, I'll have exactly what I need. Both the post-processing script and Infuse are smart enough to identify the shows on name alone. The end result will be a mostly automated addition to my son's collection of his favorite TV shows.

Does it create two episodes properly like Kodi and Plex would?

No, a single file would simply contain two episodes and would therefore be named accordingly. Most of my existing library of children's shows are in this exact format (two episodes, one file) and it hasn't been a problem thus far.

So is the metadata missing for one of the episodes?

Correct. The post-processing script would create an MP4 version of the recording then rename the file with both episode names based on a TVDB match. Afterwards, Infuse would detect the new file and add it to the library, but the app only identifies the first of the two shows and therefore only displays the metadata for the first show. The second show is not identified within the Infuse app in any way.

To a three year old, it's not a big deal. And since I use a different tool to track my library and said tool properly identifies files that contain more than one episode per file, it doesn't matter much to me either. Smile

I'm all for creative post processing rather than complicating the NextPVR configuration. I found this utility https://github.com/nicjansma/rename-regex

and you can use it to scrub the mp4 file that you transcode with

rr "filename.mp4" "(.*)(\.S\d+E\d+\.)(.+?)(\.mp4)" "$1 - $3$4"

This handles skips with no episode name but you need to decide what you want to do with thme.
