I am running NPVR v5 (5.0.0.191201) on Windows 10 and have recently acquired a HDHomeRun Quatro so I need to create and XML file to update the EPG.  To do this I am using Digiguide TV (for UK) and XMLTV / XMLTVGUI to create the necessary XML file.  I have created a UpdateEPG.bat file in C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts which when I run it from a DOS prompt works and creates the XML file.  I have added the HDHomeRun devices, scanned the channels (mapping the channel to the XML file and then attempted to update the EPG via the web pages (Setrtings / About) but although it tells the UpdateEPG.bat is being run nothing actually seems to happen.  I have added some debug logging (writing the date/time to a simpole logfile when the batch file is executed) and this seem to confirm the UpdateEPG.bat file is not being actioned.  I cannot find anything in the NPVR logfile to show the update is happening either.

Any suggetsions ?  I can provide logfiles, batch files, XML output etc if needed.

Manyu thanks

Chris

Upload your zipped logs and we can have a look.

Martin

Thanks for the offer of help. I have uploaded the log files as requested and also a zipped up copy of the updateepg.bat file I am using.

Before zipping up the log files I ran an EPG update from within the web page at around 20:13 / 20:14 today so this should be realtively easy to find.  I can see lots of references to 'Running UpdateEPG.bat' in the logs but can't see any apparent updates taking place. I can confirm that there is currently a digiupdate.xml file in C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts.  As you will see I have added an echo statement to the start of the updateepg.bat file to log when it runs and I do see this happening when I run this batch file from a DOS command prompt.

Thanks

Chris

Rather then updating from web server which creates lots of spam (it seems like the update is running forever) can you run with NScriptheler.dll after restarting the server?

I think the syntax is (from the NextPVR program folder)

dotnet NScripthelper.dll -updateepg

and send the logs again

or restart the web server (to reset the logs), then hit the 'update EPG button', wait about 20 seconds, then hit the 'log files' button. This should capture the start of whatever is taking so long in your batch file.

Couldn't run the dotnet command so restarted the NPVR service then updated the EPG. The logs are attached. BTW this time the grabber.log file was created.

Thanks

Chris

It seems to be stuck on this.

C:\XMLTVGUI>xmltvgui /grab

and the thread dies.

When you run from the command line do you get any prompts or UI when you type that? Seeing "gui" in the filename it could be a problem

I did see on the brittles page a program calle

"XmltvConsole.exe" (Windows)

Perhaps that is it. Maybe another Digiguide user can help here.

My fault. I had been reviewing xmltvguiconsole to see if that helped but it gives a pseudo gui screen in the DOS command window and doesn't support all the commnad options. In working with this I had removed a vital command option from the xmltvgui command line in the batch file, namely '/silent' as in

xmltvgui /grab /silent

without the '/silent' option xmltvgui creates a seperate command window to run the download (which is what I think you were seeing).  With the '/silent' option the xml file is created in the existing command window as expected, usually taking around 2 to 5 mins to complete. I then get some or all of the created xml file uploaded to NPVR and can now see some entries in the TV Guide but not all.  I guess this might be down to the need to manually map some channels so I will make a start on looking for these.

Thanks for you help and insights into getting this problem resolved.
