Hi all, I have to say installing V5 is almost impossible with all the things you have to do. The process doesn't work. I get directed to a page that the video doesn't even have. It directs you to threads that have closed. This is a really hap hazzard way of showing one how to install it. In the past, their it is click and it installs with the version and everything. Why is it so hard. I even get a install bar that say downloading and at the end it says installing and satays there forever. I can't make any sense of this process. 90% of the people who love this product are not tech savvy and just want to install it without being a hero tech head. Has PVR changed hands or is someone else now at the helm ? Love the product but the V5 install process is like being back in the 1990's

I'm not sure I follow you.

These days you just run https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe and hit ok.

Um same thing it says installing files and sits there. Tried the video and the links are different to what the guy has on his screen. The installer is sitting there after 5 minutes. There once was an installer that ran in previous versions that didn't access the web for anything. So when the installer says installing files, what directory are the files being installed to ?

Watched the video, has no sound. And sure the installer on the video ( BTW, when pasting a link for someone to use , please give them the exact link - cut out the word video, i don't need to figure that out ) installs and then it goes and extracts the files. Mine just sits there and still is just sitting there saying installing files. Still there.

I just recorded that 5 minutes ago, using the installer at https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe.

Quote:The installer is sitting there after 5 minutes.
What does the message say? If you create a c:\temp directory, and run the installer again, it'll create a c:\temp\install.txt. Zip this up and post it, and I'll look what it's doing.

Correct the old installer was a big file that included everything. The new installer is small executable, which downloads everything it needs. That is the way most applications work these days.

Quote:So when the installer says installing files, what directory are the files being installed to ?
It basically downloads https://nextpvr.com/stable/win64/NPVR.zip, and extracts it to 'C:\Program Files\NextPVR'.

Yeah, no audio - mic was muted. My wife is having a work conference at the desk next to me, so I wasn't able to commentate the video. I can make another one with audio after.

I think you must have seen it in a few seconds where there was a typo in my post. The video should now be embedded above.

Zip and attach that install.txt and I'll have a look.
