Running version 5.0.4.200428, nextpvr Web App. playing a recorded show. When I either seek ahead or seek back in the play back, after the first of second try I get the message "Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)" in red at the bottom of the screen, the play back recovers and the playback continues. After a few seek/forward or seek/back, the playback gets stuck in a loop and eventually quits. Is there something missing or misconfigured? Never had this issue with 4.2.5 or earlier releases

Here is a segment of the log file:

Do you remember if you were clicking on the timeline, or dragging the time thingy?

Does it happen anytime you click on the timeline?

It's best post snippets send the zipped logs instead.

Does playing the stream from a direct play like NextPVR.exe or Kodi work better? They would be closer to what you are seeing in v4.

The web app isn't the greatest way to watch recordings, but it shouldn't do that.

One thing that can really improve playback in the web app is enabling the 'Recording Auto Transcode' feature. With this enabled, when the recording completes, it'll spend some time converting the recording to a format the web browser can play natively. This gives a much nice experience when you later go to play it back in the browser, which much nicer seeking etc.

The nextpvr.exe is available with the Windows install, which is more like v4, with no transcoding required.

I'm clicking on the time line -usually jumping ahead to get past commercials. Doesn't happen the first time, but almost always after that

I tried to attach the log file but it wouldn't let me - next time I'll zip it and attach. I can play the file with both 5kplayer and VLC, in fact it would really be great if I could integrate either of these 2 viewers into nextvpr web client. The thing I lose is retaining file position so I can resume play back later.  I've tried Nextvpr.exe but it seems incomplete - clicking on some of the menu items causes it to drop into debug mode.

What do you mean? What did you do, and what happened?

How do I enable "Recording Auto Transcode" - I have tried setting the Recording Auto Transcode drop down to ""Leave recordings in native format" and 1080p

If you have it set to the default 'Leave recordings in native format', then the recording is left in the original format it was broadcast in. This wont be a format that can be played in the web browser, so a lot more work happens when you later try to watch the recording in the browser (converting it on the fly to a format that can be played in a web browser).

If you have it set to another option, like 720p, when a recording completes, it spends some time converting it into a format that can be natively played in the browser. If you're intending to use the web browser regularly to watch recordings, this is a good option to use. If you're more likely to be viewing in a client that can view the stream in the native format, you're probably better off leaving it as 'Leave recordings in native format'.

In case it's not clear, this is only going to affect new recordings you make after changing this setting, not recordings you've made in the past. Depending on the speed of your machine, this can take a few minutes more more, so you wont get the benefit of this setting if you try to watch to quickly after a recording completes.

These aren't possible to integrate into a web app. If you're looking for a client like these that can play the native stream, then you've got options like nextpvr.exe, kodi etc.

When we're playing video in the web app, it can only play the types of video the browser can natively play, ie H.264+AAC, and anything else will need to be converted for playback in the browser.
