I've been using the "Add SD Channel Lineup" button on the Guide screen on a regular basis, but always get an error: "localhost:8866 says ... undefined" . Looking at the nrecord log, it appears the problem is that the lineup had already been defined when  attempting to execute with the button (example: timecode 2020-05-11 22:02:12.812). I don't know where the "8866 says" message comes from, but it isn't very relevant to the situation. I found a reference to the recommended NextPVR install/use sequencing for Windows, and it puts use of this command right at the beginning when first logging in to Schedules Direct. I didn't do that, and I keep thinking I need to do it every time I reset the devices or channels, but I always get the "...undefined" message.

So, should I be using the "Add SD Channel Lineup" just once at the very beginning, or ??

Tnx

Once you have added a lineup, it should show up after a brief delay on the guide screen. You only need to add a new lineup if you want to actuality add a line you don't have installed.

Yep, you would usually it very rarely. Often just the once, when you first add your lineup.

What browser are you using? Does pressing Ctrl-F5 to force a reload of the page help?

When you initially logged in, did you tick the 'remember me checkbox'?

I use Chrome (on Linux/Ubuntu of course). I haven't used ctrl-F5 (F5 on Linux). I will regularly do a standard reload (circle arrow), though I now see that may not clear the cache for the page. I tried it on the guide page but I still get the error message. I use the "Remember Me", though mainly to remember the password.

So, if I remove and  replace a device(s) (as I did recently), my SD lineup will stay in the database? I typically end up rebuilding the limited lineup by either zeroing out  unneeded channels from a full scan, or now by using a limited scan list to only scan of the that are in the SD lineup.

Tnx

The SD lineup information is currently stored with your account not NextPVR That will be changing in an new SD API but it is very convenient right now to move from system to system.

You'd be better off ticking that 'remember me' and never having to login again. It gets rid of some issues that can happen when the browser is trying to use cached versions of the page, so hasn't actually logged in the session (and calls to get data etc fail because of no session).

NextPVR doesn't have a list of your SD lineups in it's database. It just asks SD when it wants to know your list of lineups. (which is why it can take a couple of seconds for the lineups to appear if you're a Schedules Direct user). ie, you could uninstall NextPVR, and reinstall, and all your lineups will still be there once you enter you Schedules Direct login info.

I may be missing what the "Add SD Channel Lineup" button actually does. When I look at the log, it almost appears to be attempting to log in to SD and "install" the lineup I am creating in NextPVR, which seems like it could be a bit dangerous. But I am assuming it is supposed to be asking SD Direct to place it's Channel Lineup info into NextPVR, possibly even before a device channel scan. Neither actually seem totally logical...?

It goes to SD to get your saved lineups. If you click Add which you shouldn't do yes it will try to readd and SD will give you an error. That is why I said you have to wait for the SD line to load. I seem to have to tell you things twice.

That's the way the SD api works. They maintain the list of lineups. NextPVR queries SD to get the list of lineups to display. If you hit the 'add sd channel lineup' button, it ends up telling SD to add the lineup.

Forgive me if I am teaching you to suck eggs ... Schedules Direct stores "lineups" where each lineup is a list of channels ... typically, a lineup is for a local area and a service provider in that area ... for example, in the UK using Sky ... or, in Cleveland using Dingbats Cable

When you "add" a lineup in NextPVR ... you are saying that you are in that locality using that service ... (or a match that is close to your locality and service).  You might use more than one lineup if, for example, you get some channels over-the-air from an aerial and other channels via cable.

As others have said ... SD keeps track of the lineup (or lineups) that you have selected.  You can see the lineups that you are using in NextPVR by clicking "Lineup Support" in the SD website menu.
