I have just installed v5 on Linux Mint v19.3 on my new HTPC.  I had previously tested v5 in a Mint VM but this is the real-deal now.

I was able to watch live TV from the web interface TV Guide using my HRHD tuners, but then busted something when I went to set a static IP address for this PC.  /etc/resolv.conf kept getting over-written (separate Linux issue), but after I got that straightened out I could no longer watch live TV from the TV Guide page.  I get "Failed to start requested stream" message in red at the bottom.  I went back to DHCP and undid the resolv.conf and interface changes, but it didn't fix my live TV issue.  Perhaps it's unrelated, but the timing is right as a cause.

I can record a show and then play it immediately from the web UI.

I replicated this using Kodi with knewc, both locally and on my ODroid (can't watch live TV, can play recording).

Logs attached.  I did a clean boot and tried to play live TV from Guide, but couldn't find anything that looked like an error in the log file.  Of course I don't really know what I'm looking for either.

I tried to watch "The Collection on Masterpiece" on channel 2.1 KTCADT if that helps.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-Brad

I lnow next to nothing about HDHR so I might be all wrong.  It appears that NextPVR Server has lost touch with a HDHR.

Do you have two (or more)?  NextPVR Sever starts from the top of the list in Settings -> Devices when looking for a device to make a recording and starts from the bottom of the list for Live TV.  It might be that NPS is finding one device and is able to do recording and can't find the other device to do Live TV.  You might be able to get a clue if you change the order of the list at Setting -> Devices using the arrows at the right of the list.  The fix might be to "re-setup" the offending HDHR.

I suspect since this is a new installation you used dpkg to install rather than apt as explained in the documentation. apt installs all the prerequisite software and it looks like you don't have the hdhr software.

To fix this go to the install link remove with apt and then install with apt.

The HDHR is a 2-tuner unit (one Ethernet interface though) and I tried switching the device order. Didn't help.

I used apt for the install, not dpkg. It actually did work when I first pulled up the web UI. It was after I started messing with the network setup to set a static IP that it broke.

I can remove and re-install and see what happens.

Try renaming the NextPVR Server database ... NextPVR Server will recreate the database and you can re-setup the tuner ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/components

I don't think it is NextPVR. If you restart nextpvr-server rather than reboot does it change anything.

Also is this a legacy device? Sub is still sorting through some issues with it.

That did it, thanks Graham.  After renaming the npvr.db3 I did another reboot, reconfigured the devices and now it works again.  I can stream live TV and record shows.

I'm going back to the static IP and try again.  We'll see if I have to rename it again after.

Thanks,
-Brad

I would guess if it's still for sale it's not legacy, but maybe your definition is different.

So after changing the network settings back for a static IP address I had to rename npvr.db3 again and reconfigure the HRHD2 tuners.

The moral of the story is set your PC to static IP before installing NextPVR at least if you have network-based tuners.

I don't agree, it sounds like something else was wrong with your networking or subnet.
