When I unzip the log files, I get:

---------- 1 rkulagow rkulagow  355755 May 28 12:56 nrecord.log
---------- 1 rkulagow rkulagow  81519 May 28 10:01 nrecord.log.1
---------- 1 rkulagow rkulagow 3631277 May 28 09:57 nrecord.log.2
---------- 1 rkulagow rkulagow 2360518 May 27 23:53 nrecord.log.3

I have to chmod +r in order to be able to open the files. Is this just me?

I've never actually tried to view the log files on Linux, so never noticed, and no one else has mentioned it. I'll check.

Why is nothing ever easy....

https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/17912

I found a few other pages basically talking through the same issue. At this stage there is no way in the API to resolve the issue. I may end up adding an alternatively implementation for Linux, where it'll instead just run some command line tools to do the zipping, to give me a file with permissions.

It's not the end of the world. No one reads logs anyway. Smile

Using the browser with Archive Manager to open and view the logs (with automatic cleanup) there is no issue with my dev logs or user logs that get posted on the forum. I'm in linux all the time and I depend on the logs I pretty much demand them from users, I hate snippets.

The issue really is unzip and the command line where chmod +r is pretty easy.

Usually it's only me (and Martin and couple of others) looking at the logs, and they open fine on Windows, regardless of where they came from. I'd like to resolve it though.

Like I posted fine here in Ubuntu too. People who use the command line can fix this very easily not worth a hack, wait for dotnet.

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, and when I use the built-in file manager to open the .zip, when I go to nrecord.log, I get the fail in Text Editor:

Could not open the file “/home/rkulagow/.cache/.fr-Z2U0U6/nrecord.log”.

And when I unzip from the command line, I get the individual .log files with no permissions. Anyway, not a big deal for me. Just thought that it was odd.

When I look in the ,cache folder my temp files have typical attributes, so I will have to see what happens when I update to 20.4
