On the 22nd of June several Channels will cease broadcasting and several more are changing mux to accommodate the permanent closure of COM8 on the 25th June - This is because of 700MHz clearance for 5G Mobile Coms.

Shame they couldn't keep Channel 4+1 HD & 4seven HD rather than the 2 QVC HD channels - but money (and lack of it, at Channel 4) talks

We pay nearly £160 per home per year to the BBC ... A bargain but not quite free ... The Health Service is the free thing that we love the most.

And having a valid TV licence is a legal requirement.
Also if you are not into soaps or reality TV there is little left. I think my wife spends as much time on the program guide as she does watching TV - "Sigh - Nothing to watch again" - "What do you expect it's Television" Finally ends up on Challenge watching a repeat of The Chase or Bullseye (from the 1980's).

Oh true, the TV license fee. Honestly though, I'd much rather pay that than the exorbitant amount we pay to companies like Comcast here and get much less for it. NHS is what I was alluding to in my first post. I'll never understand why we can't agree on such a basic human right to be provided to citizens here. Maybe it'll never happen either.

EPG flipping happens everywhere I guess. That's why we're all here in NextPVR land after all! Whenever I'm on a flight with in-seat entertainment (remember when we used to travel...) I ended up just watching whatever was remotely interesting and discovered things I never would have before. With an EPG, it's too easy to just zip past something you might have enjoyed if you had given it a chance. Too much choice can be paralyzing.
