Using web app to view IPTV channel 2537 it plays OK as does channel IPTV channel 2724. Using windows client 2537 does not have any sound except for an occasional squeak. 2724 "sometimes" reports "Missing audio? You don't have a mpeg1 decoder  selected. You can fix this on the settings->decoders screen".

Other channels do display sound ok.

These symptoms are inconsistent and seem to change if I sample other channels.

Log files are attached.

Paul

Did the install the recommended LAV Audio and Video 32 bit decoders? The MS decoders won't play all formats.

My mistake. I should have mentioned the decoders.

That is not what your log showed at least in NPVR.log but I now see you tried multiple

2020-06-14 15:12:52.669 [DEBUG][1] Graph filter list:
2020-06-14 15:12:52.669 [DEBUG][1] - AAC Audio Renderer

2020-06-14 15:12:52.669 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR TS Reader 5

Are you sure you have the 32 bit decoder?

Good question. How would I determine this? I note in the control panel that I have onstalled
LAV Filters 0.70.2 from Hendrik Leppkes. The latest version here https://lav-filters.software.informer.com is 0.74 and this has x86 and x64 versions. As my OS is x64 it's likely that I used these options. Is this a mistake?

If LAV shows up in the dropdown, then you have the 32bit decoders installed. (which is what NextPVR is looking for)

Do you see the same problem playing a recording? If so, can you supply a short sample recording?

I would install .74.1 x86 version. You might have an older 32 bit version

I have installed the 74.1 x86 version. The install process reported that the x64 versions had previously been installed. These I manually uninstalled.

Now using the windows client to view IPTV channel 2537 it plays OK as does channel IPTV channel 2724. When I tried channel 2725 the message "Missing audio? You don't have a mpeg1 decoder  selected. You can fix this on the settings->decoders screen" was displayed plus the NextPVR icon in the notification are changed colour from green to red. Then a subsequent attempt to play 2725 worked OK.

So the new decoders seem to have brought an improvement. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I note that I'm using the Microsoft decoders for video H.246 and audio AAC. I dimly recall that this was as specified in a post in 2017. Should the Microsoft decoders be used or all LAV decoders?

Decoders have always been a personal preference. Also you may have wanted to keep the 64 bit decoders if you ever want to play files outside NextPVR using MS tools.
