Hi, I'm having some trouble with NextPVR. The thing is i'm currently testing out the web player, and am always getting a "Receiving Data" screen at the bottom of the NextPVR Web Page and a black screen with a time counter progressing forward. This happens on live and recorded TV. The black screen also happens when i use the client. I'm running windows 10 on a older i5 Intel NUC. My TV Tuner source is a K-World UB445-U TV Tuner. I pulled it from another computer I had it working with. The thing is it was working a while ago, (some years),on another computer, but now I'm not sure how i made it work. Channel Scanning is working and I'm using cable tica, a costa rican cable provider with it. From what I understand they are still broadcasting in analog qam, as well as HD, but i currently don't have access to the HD Channels. From what i remember this used to work with the older computer, and i do remember I had it working with an old version of NextPVR, on said computer. I have no clue why the channel canning is fine, but there is no video when i go to play a channel. Could it be bad drivers, bad codecs, or something? Im not sure anymore, so please help. here is my logs. Thanks

Scanning takes less signal strength, so best to remove all the splitters you might have for testing.

Hmm, I just found something out. I am able to get channels that are being broadcast in mpeg-2. There are only a handfull of channels that are in mpeg2. The rest are H.264. Since majority of channels are this way, how can i watch them? Here is a screenshot.     I have shark007 codec pack installed on the server, but i am unable to play anything in h.264. anything in h.264 just keeps saying "receiving data" Thanks, and please advise me further.

Also, i do have spliters in the house but i also have a powerful signal amplifier. I tried connecting the tuner directly to the amp, but it made no difference.

This seems to be a lot of QAM channels. Usually people would only get the small handful of rebroadcast OTA channels. I'm guessing most of these are actually encrypted cable, so not watchable.

If you want to make a short sample recording of a channel, or copy one of the live tv buffer files, and supply it (via dropbox/onedrive/etc), I can check for you.

Ok, so you are probably correct in that these channels are encrypted or something. Whats weird to me is that when doing a channel scan a lot of channels said encrypted, but a good number of them were not. I only selected the ones that were non encrypted, and yet the only ones that are playing are mpeg2. I checked in vlc and in the nextpvr client and anything that is h.264 would not play. is it possible they are still encrypted, even though the channel scan said they are fine?

Another thing is that with my cable provider is that I have several tv's in my house that don't have a set top box plugged in (they only gave me 1 STB) , and just a coax connector connected to the tv. The coax connector is connected to a big splitter with an amplifier, and then back to the cable company's coax. The thing is I am able to get channels through this setup, though not as many with the Set top box. From my understanding the cable company offers basic channels (analog I believe), and digital channels (this is probably the h.264 channels). My guess is that the Set top box is able to use the digital channels, and the tv's without the STB, are only able to receive basic channels. However here lies the question. If my tv tuner cannot properly receive the "digital" channels, is there a way to set it up to receive the "basic" channels. Again i think the basic channels are just analog. Does NextPVR v5 support analog channels? If so how do i set it up. Ideally i would like to receive the digital channels, is this possible?

NextPVR v5 doesn't support analog TV easily.

Are your secondary TV's connected directly to coax or is there an additional box? If it is direct, do they show the SD channels on the TV's analog channels?

Secondary TV's are directly connected to coax. In other words no box. The channels that i receive through them are SD quality i believe. They are not as good as the TV with the set top box, but that's fine. Is there a way to do analog TV. is this guide still of use on v5, or no? If not please let me know how to add a analog tuner. Thanks

Start with the steps here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=60883 and if you are tech savvy you might be able to get it working.

Yes, absolutely.

When it comes to QAM channels, the channels are not specifically identified as being encrypted or unencrypted. NextPVR tries to work it out, by looking at the video stream for a short period of time as the frequencies go past. If it can tell it's encrypted, it'll add that info to the scan results. I think NextPVR v4, spent a little longer on each frequency in a QAM scan than NextPVR v5, so it might not be picking up as many as being encrypted. We don't have many QAM users these days, so this is the first real report I've had indicating that v5 isn't picking them all up (and I don't have QAM here), so didn't know.

I am not even sure if TV's that can scan and play clear QAM can decode h264. It might be worth hooking up the coax to a newer digital TV and see what it shows on a digital cable scan (if you have the option)
