1. I never got this condition using v.4, and wondering if it might be something about v.5 or my driver? It seems to only do it on color movies and not B&W.

2. I'd like to experiement by removing one of the tuners, but not sure how - is this easy to do in v.5, or do I need to reinstall and resetup?

3. I don't know which physical tuner is linked to which device in the settings. Is there a way to find out?

4. Is .ts the only file type nvpr will record?

Symptom - see picture. It pauses, clicks, pixellates - as if it's intermittently losing signal.

Regards
samm

Ultimately it comes down to how well your manufacturer has chosen to name their devices, and if you've got multiple of the same device. If you want to post a screenshot of your Settings->Devices screen, I'll see if there is any advice to help you narrow it down.

Yes.

That looks signal related to me. If it's intermittent, you'll probably find it's only certain channels (those with lower signal strength/quality). Try removing any splitters etc to see if the condition improves.

I didn't have this problem up to last month when I was on another computer and using v.4. I suppose it might be a coincidence and the tuner is finally pooping out, and is the reason why I would like to experiment by removing the one in question, and is the reason why I'd like to find out how to remove it without having a problem with nvpr. The tuners are the same model, and appear the same in settings - ATSC BDA 2875 TV Tuner.

If I see the other tuner doing the same thing, then I'll probably uninstall v.5 and install v.4. But I need to remove the one most used, because I can't see how to control which tuner is activated.

NextPVR (V4 and V5) allocate tuners from the top down (in the list at Settings -> Devices) to use for recordings and from the bottom up to use for Live TV ... You should be able to identify which tuner is which by starting a Live TV session ... looking at Status in the NextPVR Tray App to see which tuner is in use (the tray app lists devices in the same order as Settings) ... unplugging the input cable to each tuner in turn.

You can delete a tuner from the list in Settings -> Devices ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Add...e-settings ... and then remove the physical device.

Edit: There is a config.xml setting (and, in V4, a Setting) to change the device selection for Live TV.

Graham, tks for the info, I see now how to use it.

But now I'm getting blue screen which is another thread, and is probably a driver issue, since I wasn't having any issues with the same tuners on another system using v.4 that I had to retire. I'll need to put more work in experimentation to see if I can work around that issue. For now I can't fix anything until the recording time runs out, since I can't get to it now having had to stop the service.

There are a surprising number of posts about people who upgrade systems and have simple signal issues with bad cables, new locations or extra splitters etc. Make sure the setup is clean. Really though resolving the blue screen issue is probably more important even if it isn't directly NextPVR related.

It appears at first cursory look that this issue was indeed caused by weak signal strength. I added a signal booster and it appears to have fixed the issue for now. It is possible I might need to buy a new set of splitters some day. Thanks for your suggestions, as they were helpful.
