recording creates two files

Why does NPVR create a TS and m3u8 file when recording a IPTV source? The IPTV m3u source has output=ts and records in Emby and Plex fine.
By the way, the m3u8 is always a small corrupted file and does not play.
Is there a way to prevent the m3u8? These are useless and taking up space.

You may have had auto transcoded recordings turned on.

Yes, the .m3u8 file is created if you've got the 'Recording Auto Transcode' setting enabled. It's used for quicker playback and skipping in the web app (and Apple TV app).
