In the UK several Channels split Movies in to two parts with a 15 minute program in between (I think so the ice-cream lady can sell her wares)

In version 4 NPVR (without Kodi) if I wanted to keep the movie for a while, I just used to add the second part to the first with VideoRedo, delete the second part, and all was fine.

If I do the same in Kodi with v5 NPVR addon, the timeline stays the same length as the original first part, meaning that you can not skip once you pass the end of the timeline - the movie will play to the end no problem, but with no pausing or skipping.

Is the length stored in the NPVR db, or in Kodi somewhere, and which value requires modifying? I don't mind editing the db on the odd occasion when I want to keep a movie.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

The length and skipping and all that is based upon timing info within the .ts file ... There might be something haywire with the way that you are merging the two segments of the film.

What happens if you play the merged film in VLC?

Recording in Kodi via PVR use the duration field from the NextPVR database not from the ts file which can be most annoying if NextPVR fails so I wrote a little utility I run in post processing to fix this.

I did notice this issue when I was working on the FilmOn extra and it is easily solved with Scheduled Direct, they don't show the news cast and you can use a comskip file to avoid it.

Problem Solved

@ Graham
VideoRedo is a full editor, after removing adverts and adding both parts to the joiner the whole file is remuxed with contiguous time stamps from start to finish.

@ Martin
I first tried changing the duration in Playback Position Table - which didn't work.
Next I changed the end time column to add the extra time - success  Smile

So the Kodi Addon uses the start time column and end time column to calculate the timeline length.

Last time I checked (It was a good few years ago) Comskip was pretty useless in the UK, due to the way the adverts are melded into the program with no recognizable joins  Sad

I wasn't thinking of running comskip, just manually creating the edl file based on the time of the news.
