Hi, I need sme help with networking under Windows server 2019

My home LAN has PFsense as a router and gateway which connects to my switch at 192.168.1.x
The local Windows server and HDhomerun tuner connect to the same switch and all was working well for the past months
But if the switch is quite busy (copy large files) the TV stream is sometimes interrupted.
The Windows server is doing recordings and I want them flawless

Now I added a second LAN card to the network server just for the HDhomerun tuner
I bridged both LAN cards in Windows with the 192.168.1.x scope
It worked but the stream from HDhomerun through the Windows server to Kodi was terrible slow

So how do I do this properly if it is possible at all ?
Give the second LAN card a different scope like 10.0.0.x
The HDhomerun can't have a fixed IP so unfortunately I'll need DHCP for the 10.0.0.x scope
Reconfigure nextpvr to find the device. Will this work ?

What is your definition of "quite busy"? I'm assuming the switch is GbE and the 100Mbs HDHR and multiple stream from Kodi should not come close to causing a problem. I'd look at the disk throughput before the network.

Do make sure that keep digital tuners primed is not enabled. Those send constant traffic to the HDHR devices.

Does it work to connect the HDHR to the second card in the server using a crossover cable?  This would bypass the switch (and all other networrk traffic).

Plus ... are you sure that the bottleneck is the local network ... The signal quality into the HDHR might be variable.

I have the Model: HDHR3-4DC which I believe is gigabit
And I want to bypass the local network, so straight from the HDhomerun to the server
But still be able to watch TV over the local network

From specs, it is just 100Mbs.

Does your device show up on http://ipv4-api.hdhomerun.com/discover with the correct IP. If so NextPVR should be able to find it. If not looking at your diagram you need to internet enable your tuners too.

A crossover cable in a different subnet ?
Will I need DHCP for it ?

And why would it need internet ?
Just for the updates or is there more to it ?

It's been years since cross over cables were needed. Is your equipment that old? Are you allowing NAT so that the HDHR connect to the internet via your server?

That wouldn't work unless there was a dhcp passthrough in the server because the HDHR devices needs access to dhcp to obtain its IP credentials.

Bridging the two LAN cards wouldn't work if the congestion was in the backbone of the switch itself or the router. The problem appears to be your large file copying - is that copy process within your LAN or through the WAN side of your router? You might need to coordinate the copying processes with your recording processes to help mitigate the congestion..
