powercfg /requests shows "Legacy kernel driver" is the culprit. At the time this shows, there is no recording in progress in NextPVR, or any EPG update, or any client connected (I only use the local client).

If I stop the NextPVR service using NET STOP "NextPVR Service", there is no longer anything showing up in powercfg /requests afterwards, and the machine is able to go to sleep on its own according to the OS power plan.
Once I restart the NextPVR service manually, the output of powercfg /requests is also clear and all is fine.

I have concluded that the NextPVR service is somehow holding the OS from going to sleep automatically.

If I put the machine to sleep manually, it wakes up at the next recording, and then stays awake indefinitely. Any scheduled recording in NextPVR appears to trigger the problem.

Is there any way to diagnose the issue further and get it fixed ?

I wasn't having this problem in NextPVR 4.x, so this is a regression for me. I'm thinking of downgrading back to NextPVR4 since this bug is costing me money in wasted power every day.

Is ... Keep digital tuners primed ... ticked at ... NextPVR Web App ... Settings ... Devices

What do you see in ... Device Manager ... Properties ... Pwer Management ... for each of your tuner devices (and for other devices)

Yes.

There is no power management tab for the two Hauppauge quadHD devices that show up in device manager.
All other devices are already setup appropriately.

Yes.

Keep digital tuners primed ... allows NextPVR to keep the tuners in a state that allows quicker channel changes when watching Live TV ... NextPVR will function as normal with it not ticked except that channel changes will be a fraction slower.

Should that option have any effect on the ability of the system to sleep or not, though ?

Sleep mode depends on your specific motherboard h/w, BIOS and OS configuration since NextPVR only forces a PC to stay awake during recording.. I certainly would turn it off and see if it helps.

It appears disabling the option did work, and the machine goes to sleep properly. Thanks !

IMO, it it should be off by default. Preventing machines from sleeping is too big of a price to pay for faster channel surfing.

As mentioned above, it's already off by default. That said, most devices wouldn't have a problem with it being on, and should go to sleep fine unless it was actively recording or watching live tv.

I was having the same problem with my PC not going into the sleep mode and by setting Keep digital tuners primed = off seems to have fixed the issue.

Re: "most devices wouldn't have a problem with it being on"
For future reference, it might be only effecting certain settups. Coincidently I am operating a similar system as MadBrain; AMD MB + Ryzen CPU

MB: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. B450M GAMING (AM4)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
SSD: 465GB Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB
TV Card: Hauppauge QuadHD PCIe tuner
GPU: 4096MB ATI Radeon RX 570 Series (Gigabyte)
