Just installed NextPVR (tried on both Debian 10 and Ubuntu 20) using USB DVB-T tuner. Verion Version: 5.1.1.210329 using the install method described in this forum.

When I do a channel scan for my region I get all the channel results I'm expecting to see in the web GUI but not all of them are in the adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf file.  If I do another scan I might catch some of the missing configs for channels but then others are missing.

I can't figure out how to get the adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf file to be updated with new channels found rather than replace the entire file with the latest scan each time.

any ideas?

What happens when you click save? You should not lose anything.

The channels are all saved in the Web GUI no issue.  But the config for some of the channels are missing in adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf so I just get an error if I try to play that channel.

Scan, save and submit zipped logs required for full support.

Here's an example of my .conf (I've grepped for HD channels just to test).

Scan 1:

Code:
stevebuck@Umbridge:/var/opt/nextpvr$ cat adapter0-DVB-T-channels-scan.conf | grep HD
[BBC TWO HD]
[BBC ONE HD]
[CBBC HD]
[BBC NEWS HD]
[QVC HD]
[QVC Beauty HD]

Scan 2 (same settings - all I did was scan again):

Code:
stevebuck@Umbridge:/var/opt/nextpvr$ cat adapter0-DVB-T-channels-scan.conf | grep HD
[BBC TWO HD]
[BBC ONE HD]

If I saved that scan I would not be able to play the 4 channels removed from scan 1 because they get removed in the .conf file.

Even if you don't click save if they aren't in the conf file the stations aren't usable. I would back it up and hit save anyway since the stations are in the scan.

I’m not sure I totally follow? Sorry.

Even scan 1 didn’t bring back all the possible HD channels (e.g ITV1 HD is missing). If I keep scanning it will find it eventually but I’m never able to get all the channels in a single scan so that they’re all stored in the .conf file.

Or you saying I should create my own .conf file from multiple scans?

I had similar behaviour with Tvheadend but there it can be configured to continually scan and add channels when found so not an issue.

I don’t think it’s a signal problem. They all play fine once captured. Maybe my tuner is too slow to switch muxes so skips some channels?

I'm saying the scan you provided had many HD channels in their text.

Code:
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~17472~BBC TWO HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~102
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~17540~BBC ONE HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~101
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~17604~ITV HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~103
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~17664~Channel 4 HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~104
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~17728~Channel 5 HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~105
19:29:33:243 [DEBUG] ~18112~CBBC HD~(null)~25~545833000OFF~204
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~40960~BBC NEWS HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~107
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~40976~BBC FOUR HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~106
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~40992~CBeebies HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~205
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~41040~QUEST HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~114
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~41056~QVC HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~111
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~41064~QVC Beauty HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~112
19:30:28:618 [DEBUG] ~41296~RT HD~(null)~25~746000000OFF~113

So I wanted you to click Save. I am not sure if the temporary scan.conf overwrites the regular conf file or not, I seem to remember being able to do multiple scans without losing channels.

I see.

Yes, every time I run the scan the GUI reports all those channels but seems to be a random amount actually get saved in the config file. And the config file is overwritten each time in my experience.

So as a test. I just removed all channels.

Did a fresh scan and came back with all the channels I'm expecting to see.  I selected and saved only the HD ones in the GUI.

So I now have 13 HD channels showing in my GUI.

But this is the contents of my adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf file (just 7 of the 13 HD channels):

Code:
stevebuck@Umbridge:/var/opt/nextpvr$ cat adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf | grep HD
[BBC TWO HD]
[BBC ONE HD]
[Channel 4 HD]
[Channel 5 HD]
[CBBC HD]
[BBC NEWS HD]
[BBC FOUR HD]

Log attached (logs-202110405-2057.zip).

I then run a new scan.

All the channels appear again in the web GUI.  Again I select just the HD channels and save (now I have 26 HD channels in my list - all duplicates of the first 13 HD channels.

And now this is the contents of my adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf file (I've now lost BBC ONE HD, but gained RT HD).

Code:
stevebuck@Umbridge:/var/opt/nextpvr$ cat adapter0-DVB-T-channels.conf | grep HD
[BBC TWO HD]
[Channel 4 HD]
[Channel 5 HD]
[CBBC HD]
[BBC NEWS HD]
[BBC FOUR HD]
[RT HD]

Log attached (logs-20210405-2103.zip).
