I have two Android devices both runn NPVR version 1.7.200822
My tablet is running Android Android 10 Q Release Date of 24 May 2021
My phone is running Android 11 R Release Date 0f 26 May 2021

Neither device am I able to connect to my PVR remotely, IE off my network -- the same network as the PVR. However both devices connect while connected to the same network as the PVR. My PC is able to connect locally or remotely.

I have tried connecting using my public IP as well as by URL IE. PVR.mydomain.com. My notebook will connect by URL so I assume it should be able to connect by IP.

My PVR is a member of a domain, so I would like to be able to connect by URL so I don't have to switch servers.

Anybody have any ideas as to what is going on that my Android devices won't connect off my network?

Thank You
Kevin

Neither of my Android devices will connect by URL or IP address remotely. Both will only connect locally by IP Address not by URL.

Hi Kevin.

Assuming you have everything configured corectly (NextPVR settings, port-forwarding, etc), it's possible that your ISP has you on Carrier-grade NAT. If so, it is impossible to host any media servers, even if you use dynamic DNS. I had this problem when switching ISP's a while ago. I called my ISP and requested that they take me off CG NAT and that fixed it.

Of course you can always provide logs which will greatly increase your chances for expert help Smile

I'm guessing if we looked in your logs, there would be no sign of an incoming request, with it being blocked before it gets to NextPVR.

Maybe make sure you're got your router correctly forwarding that port number to your machine. That is the most likely place tripping you up.

I have business account with Comcast and a static IP. I have never had a problem doing something like this. I believe I had it working at one time.

I checked that the port (8866) is open by using the port checker at ping.eu, the same port checker I use any other time I forward a port.

I can connect with a PC, I can even connect from my phone using a web browser. The only way I can't connect is through the app.

I do see you can't connect on the external IP but you can on the local IP as it cycles through them on your local LAN. Is you PIN non zero have you enabled Remote access in Settings?

You also have a bad recording "Knight Rider 2000" that probably was an import which will mess things up

I have not changed the pin from the default. I did re-enter 0000 in settings just incase I changed it and didn't remember. But I am still unable to access. I did change the default password.

Yes Knight Rider 2000 is an import from my DVDs. I changed the the info above. I can change it to something different if that is going to create a major issue. The video does play in and out of NPVR.

I have attached an screen shot of my remote access setting.

To access a NextPVR server from an Internet address, you must change the pin to something other than the default 0000.
